There are plenty of self help articles out there about this phenomenon called Pronoun Abuse - one of the common writing challenges children overcome. I'm sure your brain may roughly remember the issue of unclear antecedents, and how pronoun abuse causes this very problem.
In case you forgot, here's a little tip on how to avoid your childish form of writing:
To solve problems of unclear antecedents due to multiple possible antecedents, you must first be able to identify all of the pronouns in your writing. This task can be more challenging than you think, because pronouns are not always as obvious as “she” or “it” Once you have identified all of your pronouns, connect these pronouns with their antecedents, making sure that there are no confusing nouns that come between pronouns and antecedents. This recommendation does not mean that no nouns at all can come between pronouns and their antecedents. If you do find unclear antecedents due to multiple possible antecedents, there are two easy ways to fix the problem: (1) replace the pronoun with its antecedent, or (2) rewrite the sentence.
