If you have been feeling how Ive been feeling this week go to Steelers.com and watch the Watt interview with Missy. You will feel a whole lot better. Kid is a beauty. If any one of us had a son on the Steelers, thats how we would want him to sound.

Yep.

And I admit to being concerned about the 2010-2011 drafts. Wondered if Tombert were declining in player evaluation.

Last 2 drafts? Yeah, son, how about:

Artie Burns
Sean Davis
Javon Hargrave
Jerald Hawkins
Tyler Matakevich

TJ Watt
JuJu Smith-Schuster
Cam Sutton
James Conner

Pretty freaking good.

If they can make the right move at post Ben QB it will be a great team for the next 5 to 7 years.

If that happens,.................THIS board will ******* E-X-P-L-O-D-E pro & con

TJ Watt has and is a GREAT player / person. I'm glad we got him and he hasn't disappointed one bit.

When they made the pick I wasn't thrilled. My biggest concern was the unreal set of expectations that came with the name. Even with him slowing a little bit, I'm glad to say I was completely wrong about the kid. Not the first time, won't be the last.

If you really have the heart and play with a steady motor you will make plays in this game. Physically looking at him I think he is having difficulty maintaining weight. Give him an off season or two and watch out.

I like TJ as a person and think he is a solid player, but i feel he is highly overrated on this board at this point. He seems to have slowed which is typical for a rookie. I just hope he continues to progress.

I dont know what you are watching. Maybe a couple coverages, but honestly I barely remember a situation where he wasnt in good position in coverage. To be real honest I have no idea why you wouldnt put him on Gronk. He covered Jordy Nelson for a pass defended. Ive seen him matched against slick slot receivers consistently. Those guys are way quicker and slippery than Gronk. He just boxes you out with body. At least TJ can match body length. Hes got freekish long arms.

Everyone sees outside linebacker and thinks, he has to get double digit sacks, but he's dropped into coverage so much that's almost impossible

JJ Watt had 5.5 sacks his rookie year. Many pass rushers have a mediocre rookie year. It's easy to get sacks in college just by running around guys. Look at how many Jarvis got in college. But in the NFL, you need some moves and you need to be relentless.

I don't think TJ is as good of an athlete as JJ, but he has the same relentless motor and his technique will improve.

It's hard not to be excited about how good Watt can be. He has already proven that he will be a "good" player. Now we have to see if he becomes a great player.

.@_TJWatt is the only linebacker in the NFL this season to have at least:

40 Tackles (44)
5.0 Sacks (6.0)
5 Passes Defensed (7)
1 Interception (1)

Watt you say?

I disagree, I passed my test

hi

The teams future success will depend primarily on who they bring in here to succeed Ben, period. I’m not real confidant on who Tomlin would see as a Ben successor.

Im curious to why?? Is there a track record of first round busts QBs taken under Tomlin?

You know as well as I that he hasn’t had to use a first on a QB so what are your intentions here? I will hold judgement until I see what the plan is from Tomlin and whom it will be that he drafts or signs to be Ben’s successor.

Except you're not holding judgement by saying you're already not confident in who Tomlin will get as Ben's successor.

Nope! You won’t goat me into one of your Tomlin debates. I have my thoughts on Tomlin as do you so let’s leave it there. We will never see it the same for whatever reason.
