Tomlin says there will be changes to staff. Outside OC as well.

In theory, yes. In practice, Austin has little to indicate that he is the man for this task, especially given his inability (or was it Tomlin?) to successfully recover from those ILB losses this season.
You can’t pin the ILB play THIS YEAR on Austin. With what they had to work with, they did ok

Yep Slash, time to trim the fat. Cuts I would make and I’m sure one or two won’t be popular with the boys here.
Cut the following.
Mitch
Chuks
Harvin
Cam
I know, Cam is a popular player but a 23 million dollar cap hit for a player who will be 35, no thanks. He’d have to take a huge reduction in money to stay.
Continuing with the cuts.
Mason ******* Cole.
Pat Peterson
Trade for the best return possible:
Minkah Just too expensive for what he put out this year and I know he had injuries.
Dionte Johnson We can replace with much better. Bengals have two they won’t be able to sign in Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins. I would sign one of these two and draft a WR.
No point getting rid of Minkah. They'll save $14m cash but his cap savings will only be $790K (although could be increased if he is post June 1 cut).

Curry (ILB Coach) did a hellA great job getting the most outA the toast.

Salute the nation

Agree with most of what you said there, but cutting Allen Robinson makes much more sense than trading DJ. Robinson was a huge disappointment in 2023, and cutting him will save $10 million against the cap in 2024.
I actually forgot about Allen Robinson. Yes, he should be gone as well.
I really want Tyler Boyd or Tee Higgins signed. One Of those guys would be better than DJ who has one year left on his contract.
Then I draft a WR in the third possibly with the DJ pick or if it’s a second round pick draft the WR in the second.
I think having Tyler or Tee would be better option than DJ and I think positive influence on George.

id consider Larry Ogunjoby on this list. Not sure we could part with both him and cam tho.
Yep, that would be a consideration as well. Paying him a lot of money to make a play here and there. Guy is not consistent at all.
I’d replace in the draft or FA.
This team simply has to rid themselves of dead wood.

We have the 2nd highest payroll for defense in the NFL. And if Watt is out we are 1-10.
How exactly do the other players justify their salary knowing this statistic ?

How does our defensive coordinator (or any of our defensive coaches) justify their performance with this statistic ?
The entire defensive side of the ball (players and coaches) is milking TJ Watt.

Only two players are making up the bulk of that second-highest paid defense though.

None of these “changes “ will amount to **** if Cool Shades is still the HC. The HC….is responsible for signing off on his (mostly handpicked) coordinator’s game plans, strategies…etc.

For example: Running between the tackles against 9 in the box. Down and distance be damned. And getting smoked by other teams when we load the box. Because other teams pass against 9 man fronts. They run slants and **** to the middle of the field.

Checkers vs Chess

Article on the SN home page says that Deuce says Lefty is not under consideration.
I think that’s a mistake.
My guess would be that he wants too much money although it could be that he (gasp!) wants to run the offense himself with minimal input from Shades.
Best move would be to do like they did with Haley, “Mike, here’s your new OC and you don’t say a ******* word to him except good morning.”

I just don't think they are high on Leftwich as an OC. No doubt in my mind that both coordinators should come with their own schemes and Mike being hands off. Won't happen but should...

He won a Super Bowl but the asterisk is that he did it with Br*dy. I could be an OC and win a SB with Br*dy.

Isn’t Leftwich out of football right now? Money wouldn’t be an issue. I didn’t read much positive about him as an OC out of Tampa.

They had a chance at him last time and went with Canada. Bizarre move. Hamilton is out of football this past season. I think I’d prefer this type of move as a QB coach.

I want to see a younger up and comer. A coach that has aspirations to be an NFL head coach. It’s maybe a risky move because of the lack of experience, but there’s extra incentive to be great at your job.

He was fired by the Bucs last year after the season but I suspect that since he worked under Arians he just wasn’t Bowles’ guy after The Bruce retired. He’s still getting a paycheck.

Our site has an article that is listing some of Cam's likes.
