Trade Deadline

This also doesn’t mean that the Steeler front office hasn’t made repeated attempts that have not worked out

How hard are they really trying in a league where DeAndre Hopkins could be had for a fifth round pick?

All the top teams in the AFC have added good WRs since last off-season while the Steelers have been shooting blanks. They actually subtracted one in DJ who has ended up with their top rival in the division.

I think Khan has done fairly well overall (though the Broderick Jones pick is looking pretty questionable right now), but trading DJ without acquiring an adequate replacement does not reflect well on him.

I don't think anyone would be interested till off season get him in for OTA, training camp.
Already have two, maybe three better QBs on the roster than Young. Wouldn’t touch him in a trade situation unless it was another DJ type trade

Resign Russ or Fields (more likely Russ and get comp pick for Fields)
Bring back Allen as the QB3
Draft the future in 2nd-3rd round

My vote today goes to Adam Thielen
Is that blue or red? 😁
There was this episode of Curb your enthusiasm where they went to his friends for supper. His name was Gil Theilen. And he was a former porn actor. I've always called Adam, Porno Gil. I hope they get him for the joke.

Didn't mean Steelers. Meant no one. But actually if they went Russ route. And let Fields walk could do worse for developmental maybe it was team that drafted him route. Im definitely not spending a draft pick next year. 2s and 3s are wasted QB picks and they need a first round weapon next year and likely a rb in 2nd or 3rd.

I’m in the boat of them NOT making a move. I could be wrong but just not seeing anything they think will improve their team. Anyone brought in now, will take acclimation time. If something were to of happened, you’d think it would have been pre-bye week.

Stranger things have happened.

So here are moves we could make:

The mythical #2wr... a guy better than Jefferson whom could step in if George Pickens got hurt... the problem is where is this guy coming from? Too many injuries wrecked the market..

A RT... yeah Im still a Broderick Jones fan, but get a guy who can play at a high level now.. bump Jobes to the bench and keep one away from all the other teams looking for OL help

A DL... depth is not great anymore... there are a bunch out there and our rivals can use them too..

A CB... yeah we should get trice back, and we just got sutton, but if no wr presents themselves as a trade option, get another CB cheap and short the wr room..

It would not totally surprise me if we traded away a special teams ILB if holcomb is ready and needed a roster spot... we dont need two st guys like Robinson and dirty red

Kinda expecting QB, DL and WR 1-3 in any order and Najee getting resigned.

Isn't dirty red IRd ?

My guess is we stay pat at this point. And I would rather stay pat than overpay for a guy like Mike Williams. If we are going to get a wr it better be Slayton who is youngish and cheap contractually. Or give up almost nothing for a guy like Thielen or Keenan Allen. Neither are stars anymore but in a rotational situation both would be better than what we currently have.

Slayton would be my target. Plus he just went off against us.
You know what, Id package a third, a lower pick, and a guy like Robinson and see if we can get the Giants WR and pass rusher,

Yeah we dont need a pass rusher, but we can flip him and keep him away from the Ravens.. who really need another one...

That's a step up to what's on the roster (-George). I'm all for iumproving.

Cowboys traded a 4th to the Panthers for Mingo. That might affect them willing to part with Thielen. Unless they are just in fire sale mode.

Haha. Like that is stopping that ship from sinking. They have a fork in them and Prescott is out multiple weeks. I'm hearing crickets here and assume the Steelers are standing pat.

If the dude qb isn't there in round one don't bother at all. I could produce a failed lower then first round Steelers QB list as long as your arm.
Several successful non first rounders too
Just have to have a guy that fits the system and has the tools.

They can be found, just gotta poke around

Our best QB last year was a 3rd rounder, better than both 1sts
Our current guy a 3rd and looking better than the 1st.

Heck there’s some guys real late in the draft that looked pretty good too.

First round QBs are maybe 40/60 successful at best, it’s a fallacy that they have to be taken early and that the early guys pan out.

Seems the best move is to take one every year until you have one, and repeat the process as soon as a contract year is approaching for your current guy.

It is by far the most important position and requires investment other than trying to plug the hole with cast off previously failed first rounders from other squads.

3.5 hours to go. I am guessing 4 PM will come and go very quietly for the Steelers. I hope I am wrong as they should be able to improve the team for no more than a 3rd round pick and possibly for as low as a conditional 6th or 7th.
