My wife and her entire mother's family are legal immigrants , so you can save your racist card on me or my family. Bottom line is illegals suck money from the system that the US can't afford to pay.

I was watching a local Pittsburgh news report of some racially motivated crime which occurred in the UK, against a person of color. Even thought the person was UK born and bred, the news reporter referred to him as an African American. I guess that term now refers to anyone of color, regardless of their national origin. The more accurate version of events - and one you both think is hilarious - would be, "So some violent gang members break into a private political rally, and attack attendees who are expressing political views and who are engaged in no threatening or violent action." That is what both of you support.

And for the love of God, spare me the claim, "Well I said the violent attackers should be prosecuted." I get that you're being facetious, but the answer is obvious.

In America "African American" is used as a politically correct racial signifier, not so much a nationality. These things do get mixed up because of how people self identify. Most German/Anglo Americans simply consider themselves white, while many Irish/Italian Americans consider that identity first instead. Since race is a social construct (much like nationality and ethnicity) it's all sort of nebulous and malleable anyway. I myself hate the term "African American" cuz I been Black all my life and I ain't about to change that for nobody. It's also a cognitive dissonance on my part because I'm also fully aware that my race isn't real beyond how society treats me based on it.

This is why the "illegals" thing is so stupid to me. They're just people. Human beings. Migrating toward better opportunities. I will never understand how people who love America would not understand that instinct. If it was your momma who braved the desert and the coyotes, the deadly trains, and swam the river to give you a better life you'd love her for it.
