We need a new Head Coach.......FIRE TOMLIN NOW!!!

Sure he does. But he also deserves some criticism for signing him in the first place. This jerk had a lot of baggage before he came here. Now what is our option for Bell's back up? A stone handed midget who shouldn't even be in the league?

I don't know who will be brought in, but I know one thing for sure: it will be the RIGHT choice, according at about 5-8 posters on this board. No matter who it is, it will be the RIGHT choice. If it's Jamal Lewis or Shaun Alexander, it will be the RIGHT choice, with two exclamation points and a pirate flag. Rationale and results be damned, it will be the RIGHT choice.

Even if the FAKE Steeler fans don't like it.

yeah! and if not, well, Tombert can use an Easy button and get a do-over just like in Madden.

Correct, as was just done with Blount

in which case we're bringing in ... follow with me here ... guys ... off ... the ... street ... to ... fill ... a ... need.

After his first 8 years as a head coach Belichick was 61-67 in the regular season. Tomlin's career is just beginning.
He is actually likely to head coach more games than anyone in Steelers history.

it'd be nice if the SN Elite would tell us whom to expect to come in that would pay dividends immediately, so us dumb fans can make better use of our time by exercising our eyeballs and submitting opinions for approval

I'm not a Tomlin fan but I give him thumbs up on getting rid of Blount. I thought Blount was a good fit but hearing that the Steelers had problems with him starting in camp and rumors of this going on for a few weeks they made a good decision. Listening to the players say Tomlin would take care of it was actually nice to hear. As I watched the locker room after the game I really had the feeling that Tomlin had lost this team. The players showed no emotion for the win as Tomlin tried his best to get some started by the players. Maybe in hindsight there was more going on and the players sensed it by their attitudes.

I can't imagine how Tomlin could be to blame for Blount's attitude.

On-field play is a different story. Contrarian Steeler hater that I am, I DO stubbornly hold the coaches accountable for on-field actions and tendencies. But off the field? Especially with a career malcontent like Blount? That's a major reach. As I said before, my bosses have never influenced my home life or general personality, and I can't imagine how a coach can realistically keep a nutjob in line unless he's also his dad/spouse/life coach. And that stuff isn't in a HC's job description.

That just sounds ridiculous. There is no way that short video doesn't give us every bit of knowledge we need to confirm our preconceived notions.

Well Ark the locker room video may not give us the whole story but its the oddest display I have ever seen in the locker room of an NFL team. Nobody was celebrating the win. The players weren't even congratulating each other much less Mr Tomlin. It felt more like the view of a losing teams licker room than the winners.

As we know now there was a situation. Maybe that contributed to the weirdness going on.

could it also be that the video did not show Blount leaving. Maybe, just maybe the players were ticked off about Blount's actions, and the video we were privvy to doesn't display any interaction between the team and Blount?

i mean, there's Tomlin's shoulder, I assume, on the right of the image.

hell, the video itself jumps at approximately the 5-second mark.

It was an odd scene and I already said so. Considering what might have just happened before that with Blount and/or what everyone knew was brewing could certainly have hampered any celebration. Real life example. You are at a party, everyone is having a good time. Dupe shows up....party subsidies, everyone makes excuses and vacated the premises.

Maybe it IS because the players don't like him, but that doesn't jive with the "he's a players coach" stuff from earlier in the year.

Seemed to me to be just like any locker room win or lose where a whole team is waiting to see if the "other shoe" was about to drop after one of their teammates screwed up royally. We got to see the first 20 seconds of Tomlin entering the room. We don't have any idea what happened in that room after that. Also, it's possible that Tomlin, having just entered the room, was not aware of the added drama of the Porter/Blount hallway confrontation while team members were.

While the video shows an "odd" reaction for a winning team, I find it interesting that some of you would rather focus on those 20 seconds rather than what the players had to say about how the Blount issue should be handled. Foster, Ben and Pouncey were all asked about the issue on their radio shows etc. To a man these team leaders said something along the lines of "Coach Tomlin will handle it and I suspect the punishment will be significant." Doesn't sound like players who have lost faith in their coach talking about a coach who has lost the respect of his team (i.e. "lost the locker room").

You really think players are going to say anything against their coach when they just watched a RB walk off the field? How is it that you can draw any conclusion at all from that is beyond me. These guys are politicians in pads. Just think of all the bad players they've seen and never said a word other than "He just needs time". Even in bad organizations this doesn't happen with any regularity. Why do you expect it to happen here even if it is true?

there are some here who state that it is a good thing that the players don't listen to tombert.
we can all agree that Blount didnt.
thus, we can all expect Blount to be back on the roster by the next game.

circular logic is the exceptional rule to those.

No idea what you are talking about. Who on here said that players should walk off the field?

not exactly walk off the field, but tune Tombert out. essentially disrespect him and do what they damn well please.
asinine isnt it?

To draw a conclusion of a 20second tape, would be uncertain at best. Remember, you are only seeing 20seconds. Anything could've happened just before and a lot of anythings could have happened after words. But to draw a definite conclusion one would be clairvoyant to a high degree. Just wondering how this conclusion drawn person does at LOTTO numbers??

Salute the nation

Who has said that? I honestly don't remember anyone saying that on here

In hindsight the locker room was likely in the state it was because of the antics by Blount. I suspect the news that he left early was making the way around the locker room at that time and likely had an effect on some very tired players. I am sure at that point the players were subdued because of what could have been some perceived disrespect to Porter and the team and its other coaches by Blount. At that point they may have just wanted to distance themselves from the incident.

This is what I'm figuring to be the case as well
