We need a new Head Coach.......FIRE TOMLIN NOW!!!

Not open for further replies.
And just what would you expect him to say? I wanted to come here because he is a dick head and will likely be fired and I can campaign for another head coaching job with one of the best organizations in football? When a guy has just been cut loose from his job and is then given a chance for another one do you expect him to say anything other than nice things about the guy that hired him. These sound bites quotes from the media are about as real as the wwf matches, meaning the quotes themselves are not to be taken at face value.

I guess we are left with pure speculation based on I-don't-know-what, if we can't believe anything anyone actually says? I understand what you are saying, but it feels silly to speculate so wildly over a 20 second video, but not speculated based upon a player interview.

Looks like some of you are searching hard for Tomlin quotes. I guess you missed the ones by Munchak a few weeks ago when he said he came to Pittsburgh primarily because of Tomlin and the opportunity to work for him and learn from him. I'm sure that won't influence any of you with real NFL experience and background but just thought you might have missed it.
Munch was like 4-12 as a HC so the opportunity to work for an 8-8 HC is an arrow pointing up.

The video showed some things that were initially a bit bothersome. It really appeared the players were not interested in any interaction with the coach at first look that looked like a bad sign at that time. After finding out what happened as the game was winding down it is possible to speculate that the subdued manner of the individuals in the video could have been for other reasons and not a dislike for their head coach. We are not privy to all the information regarding the team that members of the team are.

It would be easy to take a candid reaction from a small group of players and make a leap to a conclusion more so than an interview that has been rehearsed and prepared so as to be non offensive not divulging anything that another team could use as either bulletin board material or actual game planning help. In this case however when more information about recent events came to light one could assume that topic of focus was not the HC and entourage walking into the room but a previous topic being discussed amongst themselves.

Today, 1:25 AM, Post #742, you said:

You can quote a former player from years ago but I can't. Got it.

.

Are you serious? YOU brought it up NOT me. You got your panties in a bunch because I used players from "years ago". Then you bitched when I did the same thing. Damn you will stretch anything to show you are right. Talk about sad. YOU BROUGHT IT UP. NOT ME. Can I be any clearer?

As to the rest of your bull ****; You didn't just make a positive statement. You were bitching because people saw the video and thought it was strange the players were acting like Tomlin wasn't even in the room. So you can't have that. Tomlin must be defended at all costs. So you start this bull **** about:

While the video shows an "odd" reaction for a winning team, I find it interesting that some of you would rather focus on those 20 seconds rather than what the players had to say about how the Blount issue should be handled. Foster, Ben and Pouncey were all asked about the issue on their radio shows etc. To a man these team leaders said something along the lines of "Coach Tomlin will handle it and I suspect the punishment will be significant." Doesn't sound like players who have lost faith in their coach talking about a coach who has lost the respect of his team (i.e. "lost the locker room").

Oh my God.. The players deferred to the HC when they don't want to talk about another player that walked off the field? But you read into it some bull **** about faith in Tomlin. Tell us more about this teams love of Tomlin from your ability to read **** into things players never said.

This right here.

Sorry, but it's comical to me when anyone listens to an interview or press conference and (a) swallows it down and (b) uses it as some kind of "evidence" to back their point. How many times do we need to hear coaches and players give PCs and say, "Yeah, we played our hearts out, gave it our best, they just made a few more plays, but we'll regroup, I like our chances" before we all realize these words mean nothing? They're league-mandated interviews given by millionaires who just got off work and don't give a **** about talking to the media, and some of us hold them up like they're stone tablets from atop the mountain.

****, this season alone we've seen multiple HCs say publicly, "Yeah, he's our quarterback, we LIVE and DIE on his arm!!!!" and damn near break into tears defending the QB.. then announce his benching two days later. We see coaches rave and rave over a guy, then play him 5 snaps and release him at first cuts. We see players tell the media "I'm 100% healthy and ready to roll!" then miss four games with the same injury. We see coaches and players both talk about some new gameplan or philosophy, then never use it.

Seems to me that one of us is losing his cool. Bitching? About something you said? You give yourself too much credit. Finding something "interesting" and pointing to evidence that doesn't back the underlying premise is now "bitching"and requires your personal attention. OhhhhKaaaay .. gotcha, understood.

You do realize however that everything that you accuse me of doing in regards to the team's faith in Tomlin, you have done as it concerns how Tomlin is allegedly disliked in the locker room. As I said before, pot meet kettle. The thing that you seem to have a problem with is not "HOW" I made my conclussion, but rather that it was not "WHAT" you would like for everyone to see (and agree with you) on. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Dude, you just read something I posted and got your panties into a bunch and went off on one of your little "Vader Fits". It's OK, we're used to it. Again, if it makes you feel better, you won the internet today.

As far as this discussion goes, it has drifted so far off the original points that it is no longer what we were discussing and has slipped into the "yeah, but you said this ...." area. You can continue with it if you want, but I'm done with it.

I don't disagree that a lot of what you hear is just for PC media consumption. Sometimes what is not said is more important. The players could have said something more bland that didn't support the coach and you do see this occasionally rather than outright criticism.

We are going to all speculate here. To ridicule Mr. Buckeye for basing part of his speculation on player interviews is just silly when any other speculation is no more fact based.

No worries. I don't feel ridiculed. Entertained, but not ridiculed. A spirited debate is always a good thing. Keeps rational people from falling into the trap that what you see or believe is the only way to see or believe.

No ridicule involved. I don't think that's what Buckeye was doing. But you see it a lot, on this board and on ESPN. hell, I've been told on this board that my take is stupid because it didn't match with what Todd Haley said in his press conference.

oh, the irony

likewise, ma'am.

hell, i post something to just have a discussion about a topic/player and you rip me for where it's posted from. never once stopping to think that it's just a bit of information, but since Supe posted it...well, time to get oversensationalistic and turn up the drama to 11 because no matter what it is, it can't be seen objectively.

btw - how do you feel about Ahmad Brooks taking his *** out of a game? seems rather significant and is somewhat similar to what Blount did, but since Blount was a role player, what Brooks did is worse, correct?

It makes no sense to do anything other than wait to find out what I think.

Oh, I posted to you FIVE times without a response in a one-day span?

...I thought it was ******. Why?

What stance do you think I have on the Blount situation?

no, you've avoided accepting the bullshit you spewed that players shouldn't listen to the coach.

just wondering. i mean, Tombert, the clueless ***** he is, cut a guy for doing less, and diminishing any depth we had at RB, but the great, bow-down-to Harbaugh keeps Brooks, even though they have depth at that position without him.

I've got nothing to "accept." Said what I said and that's that. I think Tomlin's a **** coach, so I wish it were someone else the team was listening to.

Blount has a long, extensive history of being a nujob. I don't know whether Brooks does, but Blount does, so I feel that this was probably a longtime coming.

I don't think that cutting a guy is AUTOMATICALLY the right call in this situation, but it seems it was for Blount.

Another swing, another miss.

Just fax me a diagram of the REQUIRED depth of Tomlin's ******* to stick my nose. I'm sure you could sketch me one from memory.

that's a ****** thing to do, isn't it? total anarchy and let the players just do what they want?

and again, i'm not a Tomlin apologist. I have no idea what makes you think I am since I've stated before that I don't give a damn one way or the other. But he IS the one in charge of the team for the foreseeable future.

Tomlin took a stand. I don't know if Harbaugh has or has not, but you are quick to defend that ************ whenever anyone mentions his name. Similar circumstances arose and Tomlin cut a dude. Harbaugh? Last I saw, Brooks was/is still employed by your 1st or 2nd favorite team.

Yes you are.

Because you piss your pants when he's criticized.

But he IS the one in charge of the team for the foreseeable future.

Yes, and I wish he weren't.

LOL, you mean that one time?

When someone made a silly comparison despite the massive differences between the two?

Similar circumstances arose and Tomlin cut a dude. Harbaugh? Last I saw, Brooks was/is still employed by your 1st or 2nd favorite team.

And Tomlin's path was the RIGHT one. End of story, period, like ten exclamation points. Because Tomlin.

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

You were probably eating Ham & Beans.............................

Salute the nation

If by "Ham and beans", you mean "tombert ****", then I'm sure that is what he was eating.
