We need a new Head Coach.......FIRE TOMLIN NOW!!!

I don't agree with the dilution of talent position. We have two young studs in AB and Bell, and we have some promising young receivers and linemen. Defensively, we have young talent, but they're not impacting the game yet. Since the league is skewed more toward the offense than defense, I can live with that until we get some consistency and stop losing defenders to injury.

The best games we've played defensively, was when we had a healthy D. We'll be getting most of them back for the stretch, and if they can stay healthy, I'm expecting a marked improvement on D.

The offense has great talent. On defense, can anyone name one player who is a transcendent player? One player who makes those "wow" plays that Bell and Brown provide for the offense? I'm not saying the defensive players are crap. But, it's a weird mix of youth/inexperience, old vets who are not what they once were, journeymen who wouldn't start on other teams and free agent acquisitions who haven't lived up to the hype (I'm looking at you Mike Mitchell).

Does anyone trust this defense to hold a lead up by 5 with 1:30 left in the game?

Quit being racist and hating on FBC.
I'm lost. What does this mean???
There is some luck to coaching. Noll got back to back first round picks that became Hall of Famers and leaders of his
offense and defense. He also missed out on the salary cap and free agency era. Half the team would have been
gone after the second Super Bowl win if todays rules applied then.

In the new era teams actually need some bad years to draft players that can replace lost free agents and win Super Bowls.
Some how this is a fact. It does not qualify as a "hope or prayer"...
You won't because you can't. It's as simple as that.

Feel free to be as optimistic as you want. If the "SN Elite" is composed of guys who actually use facts instead of hopes and prayers, I guess I'm their newest member.

Feel free to gargle on a bag of balls like your new clan. The fact is: 8-8 DOES NOT EQUATE to a LOSING SEASON. FACT.

Feel free to wave your upset flag that the team loses to piss pour teams (when you feel that the Steeler's should have stomped them), feel free to parade your opinion that no one in the FO or on the coaching staff has any sense because they only choose duds during the draft, feel free to complain after a WIN...

Remember this FACT: HATERS are GOING TO HATE - REGARDLESS of the outcome. That, bag of dicks, is what I pray can change around here - and I hope you get the point - FINALLY.

I'm lost.

No goddamn kidding.

Feel free to gargle on a bag of balls like your new clan. The fact is: 8-8 DOES NOT EQUATE to a LOSING SEASON. FACT.

FACT. You don't grasp the point of this discussion. FACT.

You and your buddies use our 8-8 finishes as a POSITIVE for Tomlin. Why?

Remember this FACT: HATERS are GOING TO HATE

Are you ******* 12?

That, bag of dicks, is what I pray can change around here - and I hope you get the point - FINALLY.

The change has already come. Discussion used to be encouraged around here. Now it's just cheerleading.

Even when we praise the Steelers, we're still HATAZZZ!! or whatever stupid-*** teenager slang you've picked up - because we don't think Tomlin is awesome too. You must defend the skill of EVERY piece of the organization, or YOU'Z A HATA!!!!

Why in God's name would so many of you tout "no losing seasons!!!!" as a positive?

I feel like I'm either speaking a different language or in the Twilight Zone.

You make the statement about "not being able to believe that some of us are adults" and you spout this malarchy?!?!?!

Simple math can dispute your statement. I suggest you take a simple lesson in whole numbers and integers - maybe you missed that day in elementary/junior high/high school/college/university? I don't know but the facts are simple.

Read them here:

http://www.mathsisfun.com/whole-numbers.html

Just in case your too lazy to read the page. Negative 8 (-8) plus positive 8 (8) equals 0. Zero, my retarded friend, is neither negative or positive. It is simply ZERO - a mediocre number in between positive numbers and negative numbers.

I can't believe that I had to use that fact (see that Topseed) to prove a point in this debate...

Move along - we play New Orleans this week; time to study the tape.

I don't need to use ebonics to express myself. Please don't feel the need to fit in with my racial background to communicate to me. Got it??? My thirteen year old son can see the incoherence in your posts and he laughs at you daily. SMH.

Sweet Jesus Christ.

If 8-8 is a mediocre record, then why do you all keep touting it as a positive?

It's not a hard question.

I'm not sure that saying "no losing seasons" is the same as saying "8-8 is not mediocre". It's a positive that the HC of the Steelers has had no losing seasons during his tenure. However, the last two seasons have been mediocre or average.

Oh my God. Your latest butt-hurt, "you're so racist!" pissypants fest. How many of these are you going to have? Didn't you storm off the board over this once already? (Or was that just to get out of your Limas Sweed bet?)

Show me where I ever mentioned race. You'll notice I knocked your "I'm so hip" phrasing as "teenage slang," nothing else. I'm sorry you're offended by my calling your desperate attempt at teen slang "stupid." But it is. Let me drive this home: Nobody thinks you're stupid because you're black. We think you're stupid because you're stupid. You're out of your element in football discussion - which would be fine, except you insert yourself into it in troll form then run away. And you fail to follow even basic concepts. And you say **** like "haters gonna hate."

I could not care less what your 13 y/o laughs at. Though I'm sure he doesn't share with you what he thinks of your (a) horrendous grasp of the English language, and (b) your lack of general knowledge. And do you know what "incoherent" means? I don't think you do.

You're interpreting as a positive. No one is saying that. We are saying it isnt terrible. The worst record in football. Non-competitive. We arent happy with it. Pretty sure we say it when you say we've been terrible the last 8 years. Most teams when they go thru roster turnover bottom out. The Steelers havent done that. The Patriots are the exception not the norm.

I interpret it as a positive for a reason. Very frequently, I ask a poster why they feel Tomlin's done a good job, and their response is "no losing seasons!" Hell, you and Bermuda have used that very same criteria too many times to count. You point to finishing 8-8 as part of your reasoning for why Tomlin's teams have actually been pretty good. I'd say an 8-8 season with a franchise QB and (what once was) an elite defense is a negative, a very disappointing season. An underachievement. "Not the worst record in football" shouldn't be used as proof of Tomlin's brilliant coaching.

To me (and many others), a season that ends without a playoff berth - with a core of players that just recently contended for the Super Bowl every year - is a disappointment. When you have a HOF QB and former/current All-Pros up and down the roster, 8-8 is the same as 4-12.

This was way over the line. When i read your post it came off the same way. Bermuda didnt write or spell anything amywhere close to the way you did. You were wrong. But of course this is the internet so you will just spin it any way you want smh Dont even answer my last post. Im done with it.

Idioteque what I see from you is not discussion ..Its a constant barrage until u either get people to agree (not often) or they just stop (which then causes you to say they ran away) ..I guess I'm the idiot here but to me a discussion is 2 or more people saying their points on a subject and moving on..not trying to brow beat someone until they accept your view of what is the answer..

So.. when I'm told I'm stupid and a troll for my opinion, I should just STFU and deal with it? No returning fire?

It takes more than a good head coach and franchise QB to win Super Bowls, just ask Shula and Marino.

What I think it takes is a core group of good players, who can't stand losing. We got 3 Super Bowl appearances and 2 wins from this last group.
This group has been transitioning out of their playing days over the last few years: Ward, Hampton, Farrior, Harrison, Foote, Starks, Clark, etc...,
plus a few yet to go: Troy, Keisal, Ike, Miller. Ben will be the last one standing and they are trying to put a core group around him quickly, so
they can win another SB or two while he is still here. The last two drafts have been promising. I think if they have a good defensive draft in 2015
they are on their way.

The offense is almost there. You could make the case we have 6 offensive Pro Bowlers in 2014: Castro, Pouncey, Ben, Bell, Brown and Miller. We are only
hampered this year on offense because we are essentially breaking in two rookie receivers in Wheaton and Bryant. Free agency cost us Wallace and Saunders
or we would have the top offense in the NFL in 2014. If Wheaton and Bryant progress we could have the top offense in the NFL going into 2015.

Draft for defense and add 1 solid defensive starter and the defense would have a solid core going forward as well. Our prospects this year are up in the air, but the future
looks pretty bright. You could even make the case that we would be better off long-term if we didn't do so well the rest of the year and got the better draft position to bolter our
defense. My first 3 picks would be CB, Outside Linebacker (let Worlds walk), CB. The offense will be better next year based on experience and really doesn't need much draft help.

You won't because you can't. It's as simple as that.

Feel free to be as optimistic as you want. If the "SN Elite" is composed of guys who actually use facts instead of hopes and prayers, I guess I'm their newest member.

you mean facts such as Tombert is a complete and total imbecile incapable of spotting a trend and addressing it? Or that Tombert is a clueless simpleton on the sidelines who only cares about how he looks while in his patented Ray-Bans?

One could gloss over all the silly facts and say all that is true, or one could invest a little more time and look at the true facts and stats that really do not lie.

I'm on record as saying that I'd let Tomlin go. Though, now, I'm not so sure.

In 2011, we were 12-4. Much hand-wringing was going on about Arians not developing Ben and pretty much "winging it" week in and week out. That was the same year that Tebow torched us in Denver. You know, our alleged #1 defense. That was the same year we lost Willie Colon, Chris Hoke and Aaron Smith to the IR. Add in that even Mewelde Moore missed the last three games with a knee.

So Arians was let go. To the elation of much of the Steeler fanbase. FINALLY we can get our best out of Ben and the offense!!!!!

2012
8-8, Tomlin's first non-winning season.

Offense finished 14th in passing
Offense finished 26th in rushing
Offense finished 22nd in scoring.
Defense dropped to 6th overall.

Of course, Aaron Smith retired, which was a big loss to our D, despite his lack of play time the previous season - since his backup, Hood, was overall ineffective. James Farrior also retired. We drafted DeCastro, Adams and Spence. Two of which were lost to the IR for all but one game that season, with DeCastro listed as "out" the first game (so, essentially two of three high draft picks were lost). Colon again found his way to IR. To compound that, Marcus Gilbert was also lost to IR for the last five games of the season and was "out" for three others previously. Ike Taylor also missed the last four games. So, yes, Injuries played a big toll on this team. Not an excuse, but those are facts. With DeCastro and Gilbert gimpy/out, our OL was a mess. Mendenhall was also not at 100% for the majority of the season, and even was suspended for one game.

Significant Retirements: Smith, Farrior
Draft: DeCastro, Adams, Spence
IR: DeCastro, Gilbert, Colon, Spence, Taylor

2013
8-8, again
Offense finished 12th in passing
Offense finished 27th in rushing
Offense finished 16th in scoring.
Defense dropped to 9th overall.

We started out 0-4, including a nice drubbing by the Vikings in London. Tomlin's seat was warming. Fans were jumping from bridges. Bandwidth was blistering. Thankfully, a bye in Week 4 allowed us to right the ship some as we went 8-4 the rest of the season. Despite losing to the Raiders, we were just a couple inches from making the playoffs (had Brown not stepped on the sideline vs the Dolphins). The team faced adversity, losing Pouncey in Game 1 and our rookie RB didnt make his debut due to injury as well. To address some OL deficiency, we traded for Levi Brown...who also promptly went on IR. Later in the season, still eyeing a glimmer of playoff hope, we bring in Fernando Velasco, who checked in to the IR ward for the last four games of the season.

Draft: Jarvis Jones, Bell, Wheaton
Free Agents/Players Lost/Released: Harrison, Foote, Wallace, Mendenhall, Lewis, Colon
IR: Levi Brown, Pouncey, Foote, Spence, Stephens-Howling, Velasco

Currently, our offense is 8th overall (5th passing, 10th rushing). The defense is the anchor, weighing in at 19th.

So you can throw all this at the feet of Tomlin. Right?!?!? Pitchforks! Trash on his lawn! Loot! Pillage! Rape the landside! He doesnt know what he's doing. He's laying waste to our franchise QB's prime years!! He's incapable of challenging plays!! I get it. I understand. Though look at the roster upheaval. Compounded by retirements and injuries. While absolutely no one thinks an 8-8 season is a successful one, we're also just outside of being in playoff contention. As 2005 showed, anyone can sneak in and win. Aside from that, in Tomlin's pretty successful on his challenges. He's made 49 challenges, having 26 overturned.

Now that I consider all of that, I'm not so sure that I'd want him gone. What I do expect is a large emphasis on defense in the next draft. The trend of our defense getting worse is obvious. That will have to be addressed further. Though, that is a role between Tomlin and Colbert.

well since Tomlin has been here posters have had negative post about him....Even with 2 SB appearances and 1 SB win...nothing has changed. While i was... i guess a "Tomlin supporter" as some call it here because i personally thought he was an above average coach but still had areas to improve. A lot of the negativity on the Tomlin hire had to do with race...Period! how many Rooney Rule threads were there? While now there is plenty of reasons to want Tomlin fired it really hasnt changed that much from his earlier years with the negative threads on him. ...I personally think he hasn't had full control of the team as some do on here. I believe he was told to keep Dick LeBeau and hire an OC from within. Even when The Bruce was let go I don't know if Haley was fully his choice. It seems all of our position coaches are from the Pittsburgh area...Why? To me the Rooney's are too hands on...
As of now i wish they would replace Tomlin but only if the replacement has full say in who he wants to be on his coaching staff....While some think keeping DL around was great i personally think the last 4 or so years has set our team back....The Defense we have put out for the last 4 years is well below the line....I now hold Tomlin personally responsible though for keeping DL around...Maybe he was told to keep him..i don't know...but if he has the control to either keep him or get rid of him and he has continued to keep him then he must go as our HC. and if he doesn't have the power to fire him then he must go also.... So either way at this point i personally believe Tomlin must go.
As to the 8 and 8 record thing....it is what it is. Not bad but not good, Just average. Anyone who thinks it sucks try being a Raiders fan like my brother....

Can't believe what a whiny li'l martyr you, of all posters, have become.

You used to use substance in your posts.

It is satire.

I've decided, since no one listens to reason, why bother with it anymore.

For what it is worth, I disagree vehemently that people here don't like Tomlin because of his race.

I disagree with you based on your race.

I really need to pray for you...

You did NOT mention "race" you "implied it" by utilizing ebonics. Clear enough. Just stop.

I cannot "stay involved" in the discussions because I actually try to perform my duties at work...
