Its been a while,, thanks for not killing us with it... But im getting close to being on your side..

It is not so much coming to one side or the other. Whatever the Steelers do with the head coach is their prerogative. If they would fire Tomlin, I would lose no sleep.

I think those of us who have not buried him are always called rah, rah. It is trying to find the positive, the way I see it. I didn't like the Jarvis Jones pick. I didn't like the Mike Mitchell signing. I just don 't get what they are doing in other areas. But I try to remain positive. Maybe it will work out. Hell, I am a fan. What fun is it to be negative all the time?

Even now, I am thinking that maybe they will turn it around.

yeah I wanted personally to wait it out. Different fans have different time frames for results and that's fine.

The offseason I was impressed with the GM for not only bringing free agents for depth, but for resigning players for future depth, and the draft brought promise. Along with last years draft picks showing flashes especially Bell.

But when your product is looking like well ****, and in the process you missed the last two years playoffs. For me enough was enough. A fan can blame 53 players, but other coaches manage to get the most out of their 53.

Simply Tomlin isn't. That's why the switch for me. I gave him his due time, as in rebuilding. But hell rats gutted most of their team, and still manage to be in most games.

Short week, distractions and their younger players still managed to be in the right places at the right time. And a few even made plays.

...enough to dominate a team that has been making changes even for a longer span, and yet they play/look ugly/embarrassing.

And now I wonder how long until the Steelers have a fresh set of eyes not to waste a franchise QB.

One that has the potential to win more SBs. 3 SB appearances show that ability.

Coaching is holding potential back.

I point to confusion, too many penalties, and too many players being out of position, for me to think it is anything else ultimately besides coaching.

And with this schedule a few wins against bottom tier teams will not change this new stance.

I think the Rooney's and share holders need to communicate and ask themselves how long are we willing to put up with "below the line" coaching.

I just wanted to kick this thread back to the top.

We're 2-1 going into the soft part of our schedule.

**** all traitors who root against this team because of Tomlin.

Like I previously said, this season is the end of the line for me supporting the coach if tomlin doesn't make the playoffs.
After the rats game the first word that came was "disappointed", today we could see what this team can do with the players on the roster so another mediocre season won't cut it.

Trust me when the game was in a situation where it could have been put away at the one yard line and we tried a play action pass instead of ramming Blount, and got a PI penalty, I was calling for Tomlin's head. That was just plain stupid.

Now we have 3 strait games where we score last at the half. Time management must be improving...

Who calls the plays? Tomlin or Haley?

I'm the head coach. The OC calls a play action pass from the goal line when I'm trying to put away a significant road victory. The first words out of my mouth are timeout. The second words are short yardage.

I had no problem with that play call, the PI was complete and utter bull ******* ****. Those refs last night needed some ******* glasses, for ***** sake, yes he extended his arm, but it was to get the guy who was raping him like he was his prison ***** off his back. If the defender is mugging you, I would say that's self defense.

The play was great. The penalty was a bullshit call and the execution was awful. Was a easy TD.

Really??? Coach Tomlin has a capable OC in Coach Haley and a capable QB in Ben. As it has been stated, the refs were rather one-sided last night and the PI call was ticky-tacky...

We're 2-1, brother, and had Coach Haley been on time, last week, I think the outcome would've been much better - but, eh, we have a second shot at the Rats and I'm not worried.

This mentality drives me nuts. When Brady and the *Pats go play action to Gronk, everyone says "Brilliant." When we stack the line against an opponent and they hit their TE for a score vs. running the obvious 1 yard plunge, people say "Brilliant." When we go for a pass for a score from the 1 via the air, we are morons.

Got it.

Yep. There was nothing, I repeat, not a ******* thing wrong with that playcall. At worst it should have just been an incomplete, on to second down. We got screwed on the bullshit pentalty, and that's the only reason the team got backed up. That's virtually a zero risk play more often than not, and I'd much rather we call it on first down than on third, which is what we usually do.

Some things to consider regarding Tomlin.

Last night there were a couple of instances where something was not executed properly and he was filmed from the sideline yelling instruction to someone, not just standing there with the wtf look on his face.

The team looked better prepared for their opponent.

Even early on with the field goal fest the team was staying with the plan and getting points.

The defense with Ike was getting stops.

The offensive line looks like it is starting to click.

Wallace looks better than Foster - that would be a knock on Tomlin for not having him in there ahead of Foster.

Spence looks better than Shazier at this point because he knows the system much better having been studying it for lots longer. That is both a knock and a plus for Tomlin - Knock for starting a first rounder who is not ready yet - a plus for sticking with Spence one of his picks, when others said he was done.

The team they played may not have been ready for this version of the Steelers, they may have been expecting what they saw on Thursday and the last half of the Cleveland game. This may have been a gift to Tomlin who had a team that showed up and played.

Tomlin's assistants, Hailey, Munchack, Porter, Lake, appear to have done a good job. I am not listing the guys he inherited just the ones that he likely had something to do with selecting or that were added after he was a head coach. I consider them a plus. Lake is developing players and some are still learning the fine points of the defense. Porter has gotten some improvement out of the guys he has to work with. Munchack seems to be developing the line rather nicely, they are not the most dominant in the NFL but they have clearly improved. Hailey called a very good game, In looking at the game a lot of misdirection was used well. Many times the player with the ball was going against the grain and the defense was running the wrong way, that was by design. The running game is back. A full back was seen on the field doing what he does. The Steelers put up over 200 yards on the ground on a good team.

Over all it is beginning to look like MT is getting the hang of what the job means. I do not think he had a clue when he was given a team one season away from the superbowl. His initial drafts and player choices were really bad. Compared to what this years draft looks like based on potential it is a huge improvement. MT may still be getting better. We have seen 6 good quarters this year and 6 bad ones, kind of like the 8-8 record of the past few years. The difference this year so far is the ability to change a trend quicker than in the past.

If he continues to improve we may finally have the coach all of us that were being called racists wanted in the first place. The coach might be MT after he has been seasoned and improved. I still think he sucked initially and his success was do to the team he was given. Now it will be based on the team he is building and the coaches he has had a hand in selecting. Time will tell if this continues. One more thing that goes on the plus side of the ledger. Special teams got us points. They have also played better.

As I've been saying all along, if this team can't win 10 games something is wrong. The schedule was the best the Steelers could have hoped for. The rats game was tough but then to have 10 days to prepare for Carolina then go play the "mighty" Bucs at home followed by a road trip to Jax who lost 44-17 to Indy is as easy as you can get. BTW the Indy game wasn't that close.

My reaction, if the Pats had brought in a big bruising Back for that situation, and ran that exact same play was called and worked, would be this: Wasn't that CUTE. Now which of the last five Super Bowl teams strikes you as playing CUTE football. Impose your will, ram the rock. That is what Cheech is for. Many more things can go wrong on a pass play than a run. Create your identity. Then play off of it.

**** all traitors who root against this team because of Tomlin.

We had enough injuries last night. Don't dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back.

Coaches always get too much credit for wins and too much blame for losses. I understand they are responsible for the bottom line, all of them should be. Did they come up with some magical elixir between last weeks debacle and last night?

Nope same players same coaches. Better execution plain and simple. Whether we win or lose is decided on the field.

Its very apparent the outcome of the recent game (we won)....the absence of a couple posters and a few others who are as shy as a street hooker at an Evangelical Revival.
