We need a new Head Coach.......FIRE TOMLIN NOW!!!

My final judgment on tomlin is at the end of the season, not after the ravens clusterfuck nor after the brilliant game against the Panthers

Too logical. Too fair. You "MUST" pick a side! ;)

For the record, I do not buy that criticism of Tomlin, that he doesn't yell on the sideline. So? Neither does Belichick. I prefer a coach who keeps his criticism in-house. And you certainly can't judge a coach's discipline or lack thereof by raw emotion during 15 seconds of camera time on a broadcast.

The reason I question Tomlin's discipline is because we remain a hemorrhaging mess of TOs and bad, major penalties 7+ years into his tenure, no matter which players we put on the field.

Are you guys for ******* REAL?

1. Inconsistancy: The Steelers beat the Juggernaught Patriots one week and then lose to "The Suck" Raiders the next week. Steelers blow out the Browns in one half and then bomb the other half of a game. Offense is great/Defense sucks one week...Offense sucks/Defense Great the next.
2. Lack of Disipline/Fundamentals: The Steelers are 2nd in the NFL in Penalties.
3. Tomlin doesn't understand where he is, literally. He stands on the field watching a jumbotron playing pocket pool lost in a reverie and helps his special teams make a play.
4. If Heinz field had real dirt on the field you would see Haley with a stick in his hand drawing out the next play
5. ....and Dick Lebeau would be cluelessly spitting on it
6. Dan Rooney continues to search for his "precious" instead of discovering a ******* Defensive Lineman who can demand a double team.
7. They are so ******* stacked at Linebacker they have to pull James Harrison out of retirement after they decided NOT to sign him earlier and force his hand to retire. (NO ONE WANTED HIM)
8. Joey Porter is the only person the DL has knocked down all year
9. You draft the best Center and Best Guard in their respective drafts and you still can't run the ******* ball consistantly. geeeeee. Perhaps it's because you have Bob Marley at right tackle, Cheech and Chong at running back, and your left guard is a traffic cone.
10. Even Troy Polomalu is throwing a fit

I can see why the Tomlin apoligists are basking in the glow of a single dominating win; i mean they only have 6 more of these "moments" left in the season until they are ultimately left in utter disappointment and relagated to a mindset of "at least we finished ahead of the Browns"

I think the league's 6th longest tenured coach has earned a pretty fair sample size. 123 games over 7+ years.

If we are using numbers like 6th, 123, 7 .. and referencing only sample size, then the appropriate numbers to reference would be W-L. However, what we are usually talking about are game management, adjustments, etc. and trust me, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. As I've said before, I'm not yet anti-Tomlin, but I'm not so far in the pro-Tomlin grouping that I can look past continued lack of growth in certain areas. I will say that it appears that Tomlin/Colbert etc. have made some effort to change their approach to some things this year and I hope that signals growth (and a playoff birth - wouldn't that be nice).

Not really, unless you're claiming W-L hangs entirely on the coach. If you do that, you're going in stark contrast to what I read on this board 200x a day, that the head coach isn't responsible for stuff and that the players' execution determines who wins and who loses. And if you're claiming that, you're also saying Guy Chamberlin is the best coach in NFL history, and that Mike Smith is a better coach than Walsh, Landry, and Noll.

And if you are saying that, then Tomlin's 18-18 record since the Tebow loss is a pretty strong indicator that we're in the toilet right now.

Oh, I don't think anyone seriously believes the head coach isn't responsible for stuff. I think what people are trying to get at is that the head coach can't be everywhere at all times so he has an OC and a DC along with position coaches whose opinions on things like who starts, game plans, adjustments he relies upon. The ultimate responsibility for those things rests with the HC of course, but, I don't think you see many HCs making the offensive and defensive play calls during a game, after having put together the offensive and defensive game plans for the week by himself and evaluating each and every player on the roster by himself to determine who should be starting and who should be a reserve. If there is such a coach, I'd like for someone to point him out.

As far as the record, over all and over the last 2 seasons, it is what it is; excellent over all and mediocre over the last two seasons. The overall record says he has got it done in the past, but the last two seasons provide cause for concern.

1. so you are predicting a loss next week already?
2. not gonna argue this one, we've been hit with a lot of penalties. Some have been ticky tacky, others justifiable, and others are just WTF!? I watched the Redskins Eagles game and that had a **** ton of penalties too. With how they are calling illegal contact this year, I'll see what it looks like at the end of the year.
3. great point, you're so spot on (that's sarcasm in case you didn't know)
4. another great comment backed up with plenty of football knowledge
5. see above
6. I forgot that Casey Hampton's grow on tree's. Care to name the dominant NT that we've passed on?
7. Injuries didn't have ANYTHING to do with Harrison did it? Not like two starting LB's went down or anything.
8. maybe try watching a game before making this statement. They ran through Carolina's OL, and they were handling Clevelands as well until they went no huddle.
9. Bell is second in the league in rushing yards, first in yards from scrimmage. Seems like they are running pretty consistently this year.
10. even more bullshit.

These are the posts that are the most retarded. you think that because you made a list of ten things (8 of which are completely made up), you somehow have made a point at how bad Tomlin is. But I'll keep this post in mind at the end of the year.

#2, How the **** are we not #1 in penalties?? Who the **** is #1? I can't imagine any team taking more penalties than us right now.

Niners are #1 with 36 penalties, 5 more than the Steelers.

Interestingly, there are 5 other teams with more penalty yardage than the Steelers, they are the Jets, Skins, Niners, Rams and Pats*.

Just bury your head in the sand, and wait for your ******* prom.

I'm fine, I'm just concerned for him.

**** THE ROONEY RULE! Give me a Head Coach who can think on the fly!

tired of losing to inferior teams on a REGULAR basis. We either have **** coaches or the whole thing is rigged bs(my personal belief) Making other garbage qbs look like Joe Montana seems to be the ******* norm. I don't buy these miraculous half time adjustments either. That's ******* horseshit as well.

Once again the hand wringing about Tomlin has proved to be unfounded. This team has holes and weaknesses. Just as any other team does. But the coaching staff is slowly but surely building something. And let's all keep in mind that we're one 1st down from being 6-2 because that Tampa loss was a fluke.

If we win and Cincy loses next week we're tops in the division. Unlikely as that may be, as Cincy's got the Jags in week 9, it does mean that we can catch them when we go head to head Dec 7.

Keep going Mike. Keep throwing, keep blitzing, and hopefully we can stay healthy. If we can win this game, in this way, we can play with anybody.

Love when we dig up these threads depending on how the team looks week to week. The only question is which side of the argument is digging it up.

Steelers currently lose tie breakers to San Diego, Buffalo and Baltimore because of their horrible loss to Cleveland. Until today, this team played like **** and all criticisms were well earned.

If they run it around and make a run in the playoffs, great, but that doesn't erase 2 months of mostly bad football. And it still doesn't make Archer a good pick.

We are in 3rd place in our division and 1-2 in the division, wonderful.

THIS THREAD SUCKS!!! Who's the moron who started this thread?
