I've had this same discussion with Vader many times. I've been reading this board for many years, and I've always found it to be quite negative. The board goes crazy after a loss but crickets after a win. I suppose some of that is just the nature of fan-dom:

This is just incorrect. This place has never been more vocal or posted-in than in the successful times. This board used to crash from overuse after victories, for God's sake. The board reveled in the team's success.

Now, we're not nearly as successful. So there's less enthusiasm and less cheerleading. More complaining and more questioning. To me, it adds up.

That makes sense. A negative thread discusses a problem, which means there are solutions to discuss. Different viewpoints to be thrown around. Conversely, a positive thread is merely a back-patting thread. Doesn't involve a lot of discussion/debate, so of course it's less interesting and informative. I post in the positive threads, too, but Jesus, how many "Agreed, Bell is awesome!" posts do I need to read?

Anyway, back to the board - I've found that posters that are very "rah-rah" tend to get run off quickly or reform because guys like Vader jump all over them. He's like a paranoid dictator who sees enemies everywhere even though he's already hanged them all. I appreciate Vader's knowledge and perspective but man does it get boring and annoying to the same points driven into the ground over and over and over again. That's why I almost never read or post on this board during the season --- there's plenty of good, objective info elsewhere that doesn't come with the same, repetitive negativity "but Tombert should have drafted someone else!".

Remember Anthony Smith, Willie Reid, Fred Gibson, Ricardo Colclough, ALONZO "M'FING" JACKSON and a few others along the lines of Hank Poteat? Yeah, one of those guys was on board for drafting those guys too. Point being that as you are aware, the draft is not an exact science you miss some and you hit some big. Not all turn out to be stars or busts; some are just serviceable.

Not sure what any of those guys have to do with Tomlin. But even so, whoever drafted them balanced 'em out with numerous HOFers and All-Pros, so....

As for NT did they not draft Tamu to play NT. So because they havent deemed anyone else worthy besides Tamu and now McCullers worthy they ignored the position? Hampton like players are far and few between. The only guy ive seen worthy of trading up for would of been Poe. I cant think of any other guy playing at a Hampton level.

Hypothetically, what if it was the coaches' gameplan that told Mitchell to patrol the wrong area? Still the player's fault? What if they're playing Ike over a more talented player? Still the player's fault? What if they call the wrong coverages? Still the player's fault?

What if the same guys make the same mistakes constantly for years on end? Sure, a Ben INT is typically the fault of Ben and/or the receiver. But if he throws the same stupid INTs every year, yes, I blame the coaches as well. Their job is to coach him AWAY from those throws. Their job is to call plays that MINIMIZE risk of stupid INTs. Same with missed blocks, missed assignments, bad fumbles, etc.

You have a job, right? Do you manage any employees under you? If they make a mistake, it's their fault, sure. If they make the same mistake for several years running, doesn't it reflect on you as well? Isn't it your job to teach them AWAY from those mistakes? Or replace them with better employees? Or is it just NEVER your responsibility? There's not an industry on earth that believes that.

Nobody on this board has stated bad draft picks are ALL Tomlin's fault. But Tomlin played a role in drafting Jarvis, Sweed, and Hood JUST THE SAME as in drafting Bell, Brown, and [end of list].

Exactly, I read the board on and off all year round. I post when I feel like it, regardless of wins or losses, in-season or off-season. I've stopped logging into the game threads, as all the Debbie Downers take the fun out of it. Just a bunch of ******* constantly bitching and whining. Yes, I completely forgot about the 2012 4th-rounder whom we cut without ever playing a down, and the 2014 7th-rounder who never plays. That indeed seems like a solid investment in arguably the most important position to a 3-4 defense. Suuuure sounds like Tomlin's sticking with the 3-4 after all.

Mr. Mensa, the word you're looking for is "know", not "no". An example is "I know Vader is a **********, but, no, I did not know he swallows." See the difference? As well, since we're on the subject, "but" is the incorrect word. The correct word is "butt". An example would be "While Vader may be a nice person to some people, he's just a butt of **** to others." While I'll admit that wasn't my most creative form of teaching, it does drive the point across. So, please, when you attempt to talk down to people, use the correct terminology so you don't come across as being even more full of **** than usual.

It is worth noting that YOU, Vader, did say that DL has some input on the defensive side of the ball. While religiously ranting against such a notion, you did admit that DL does, or should. That was the point that was being made. However, since you did not make that initial claim, it greeted you with as much warmth as an ice-cold vibrator in your anus.

To counter your argument regarding Haley/Bell, we do not know that Haley wanted Bell instead of Lacy, whom I recall you wanting us to take. Thus, we also do not know that Haley preferred Lacy but was over-ruled by the cluster **** of Tombert.

Just as we do not know for a fact that DL wanted Hood...or didn't. Both DL and Haley probably had input on those two players. Correct?
