We need a new Head Coach.......FIRE TOMLIN NOW!!!

Not open for further replies.
This team (and coaches) must have taken LSD, and done hours of meditation and yoga during the week leading up to today's game.

Can a football team be "enlightened"? They sure looked it.

This is shaping up to tbe strangest season I can remember since the year they got outscored 90 to 10 (or whatever it was) in their first two games but made the playoffs.

Comical for sure. I'd fire tomlin tomorrow and not even blink.

Exactly. I've been told that coaching has NO bearing on how the players play (seriously).

I'm guessing, however, that it was Tomlin's hand lovingly guiding all of those passes today.

Love when we dig up these threads depending on how the team looks week to week. The only question is which side of the argument is digging it up.

sandy vaginas for everyone!

I am very critical of Tomlin, for reasons I have detailed in this thread and elsewhere, and hope beyond hope, to the ends of the earth, that this thread is brought up every week from now until February of 2015 to rub my face in it.

Once again the hand wringing about Tomlin has proved to be unfounded. This team has holes and weaknesses. Just as any other team does. But the coaching staff is slowly but surely building something. And let's all keep in mind that we're one 1st down from being 6-2 because that Tampa loss was a fluke.

If we win and Cincy loses next week we're tops in the division. Unlikely as that may be, as Cincy's got the Jags in week 9, it does mean that we can catch them when we go head to head Dec 7.

Keep going Mike. Keep throwing, keep blitzing, and hopefully we can stay healthy. If we can win this game, in this way, we can play with anybody.

Actually MIkey is not a very good coach. Sometimes everything just lines up perfectly including your dumb QB taking what the O is designed to give and keep POSSESING the ball as coach cliche said over and over.

It also helps when the other team loses their best DB, if not for that I gaurantee you we lose this game. The O-line not playing like garbage kind of helps too.

Lots of good things this week. The team looked like a different team. The offensive line was blocking like a bunch of high round draft picks should Block. Most of the players were extremely focused today a couple had moments that nearly cost us this game. Even with a drop that likely caused us to punt, followed by a fumble, followed by another fumble the offense stuck with the plan and kept on charging down the field. Playing hard after those mistakes and keeping the game in hand says more about the team than how well they did when everything was going well.

Todays team is what the team should look like every game period. I will say good job for today and this past week in preparation and good job of execution today. One game does not make up for the last several seasons. If work like this continues it will. It would indicate that the HC finally gets it and can do his job, but only if he can continue to do so. One has to wonder why it took this long for this team to play a game like that.

Ben finally played the game I hoped he would play for a long long time. He actually threw a timing pass to Brown, Brown turns comes open and gets hit in the chest with the ball. The defense played hard all game and I am just stunned that Luck was able to get rid of the damn ball sometimes completing a pass in the face of that rush.

It looks like Haley developed a great game plan, Ben did his homework and executed it, the players all finally got on the same page mostly and executed it. LeBeau's defense was well what he has been known for.

I will give credit to Tomlin, first game I can remember that I actually feel like he has made the step as a leader to get all the aspects of the team working and ready to play. I do not know who specifically did what in this organization with getting things ready but this is the job of the head coach and it looks like it has been done well for a change. If this continues and is the norm and not the exception I will say that he has definitely and finally grown into the job and become the coach the Rooneys wanted when they grabbed him.

I think munchack ( having the OL ready to play) had more to do with this win than tomlin or haley.

agree, xjx.

Line was very good. The quick passes had the Colt's confused also.

I think munchack ( having the OL ready to play) had more to do with this win than tomlin or haley.

That may have been one very important aspect of the game and I am not saying you are wrong. As one of many that wanted Tomlin gone for the last few years I have to give credit to him for this game. All aspects of the game were working, defense, offense (not just the line but all phases), special teams looked decent instead of awful, and the intensity and focus of the team was good for the whole game. This was a complete game played by the team. Most of the penalties were ticky tack penalties so the effort to cut down on them was huge. I also do not recall an instance of severe confusion on the sideline that we usually see more than once a game. No, I can't name them I just remember them happening frequently. So in light of all this I have to say that all of the coaches likely did a very good job, and not only did we have individuals doing a good job, but the entire team played a collectively good game.

When you look at the game from that stand point this was a great performance from everyone and that is what a good head coach brings to the table. Now we have to see if he can keep things focused and continue to do the job of a good head coach. Steeler Nation is watching.

Where are you ************* TRAITORS now?

Why is this thread dead? You TRAITOR *** ************* were so sure the team was done. Where are you now? What's your excuse?

The TREASON on this board is being exposed, and I only have one question for all you sell outs:

How do Tomlin's nuts taste? Are they salty? Cuz clearly you can't talk with him giving you a mouth full of 'em.

That didn't take long. Lol. Just once it would be nice to enjoy an *** whipping of the Ravens and forget rehashing stupid ****.

**** that ****. The traitors need to be called out. They actively root against this team because they hate Tomlin. That's bullshit and it's high time they got called on it. I don't care who the coach is, or who the players are, I ROOT FOR THE BLACK AND GOLD.

**** these fair weather traitor *** *************. When Cowher went 6-10 TWICE, I flew my colors with pride. These punk *** traitors can't wait to throw our squad under the bus so they can get a coach who refracts more ambient light.

This is OUR squad, these are OUR players and OUR coaches. We should be defending them, not running them down. That's the Browns, Ravens, and Roger Goodell's job.

I am guessing that we are all still here. And in this game we still had some **** ups from coaching. Substitution with less than six seconds on the play clock causing a time out to be wasted. Foster in for Fister who was beaten badly on several occasions tonight. Gilbert in for Adams who was playing much better before Gilbert got better. Not having the team ready to play well in the first quarter. Poor job on special teams.

Great challenge By MT, got Harrison another sack and had a big impact on the game. Toss out the first quarter and the team looked pretty good. As to how his nutz taste I'll let you Tomlin balchinians tell me.

Someone DELETE THIS THREAD! I'm tellin ya the moron who started this thread is a IDIOT! I SAY IDIOT!!!

You tell us how his nuts taste because you're the one sucking on them. This treason crap (CAPITALIZED!) is childish. This team has talent, but if you think it is well coached, you are delusional.

But wait, I thought this team had no talent. I thought Tomlin's drafts and acquisitions were all garbage. In fact, isn't every bad thing that happens to this team ENTIRELY his fault? If someone gets mugged in the parking lot, isn't that Tomlin's fault because "he's the coach"?

The man is humiliating you and the rest of the traitors. Eat your crow, suck on your humble pie, and accept that your traitorous *** has been exposed for the fake fan that you are.

GO STEELERS! (capitalized for the traitor *** *******)

LMAO. I very seldom come here anymore because of the whining and ****. You know you can't say anything positive about Tomlin or you will
get thrown under the bus around here. Yeah let's not rehash anything unless it's negative energy towards the coach because God knows if they win a game it's not because of him it's because of the players but when the Steelers
lose it's all his fault and he is just a Rooney Rule coach. Now watch the hate in ....1,2,3 . Great job by the whole organization tonight on Mean Joe Greene night.

Not really. They just get asked, "Why do you think he's a good coach?" and they never get a response.

Until a win, of course, when this one dude resurrects this post and babbles **** about "treason" and "traitors"

This is bullshit on 50 different levels.

1) People know that Tomlin is a good leader, and a good manager. They know he develops talent. James Harrison was a fringe player when Tomlin got his hands on him. He took off in 2007, Tomlin's first year. Look at the work he's done with recievers over the years. No one thought Mike Wallace would be what he became, and what's he done since he left?

2) The disrespect to Tomlin is also disrespect to the Rooneys. They know coaches, which is why we've had 3 in 40 years.

3) Mike has yet to turn in a losing season. Cowher went 6-10 twice before winning the big game.

4) Mike is the youngest head coach to win a SB, and the youngest head coach with 2 appearances (both before he turned 40).

5) And before you start repeating the lie of our supposed inherited greatness, the Woodley/Harrison combo did not exist under Cowher, who wen't 8-8 (the same record that supposedly dooms Tomlin) with that same roster when he hung it up in 2006.

Bottom line: like Reign says, Tomlin is seen by the Traitors as a Rooney rule coach and they won't be happy until they have a coach who's sufficiently translucent in sunshine. And **** this team in the meantime. They don't want us to win, because if we do they'll have to acknowledge the bullshit of their views. So they root against our squad.

And now you're all being shown the error of your ways. The question is: will you learn anything in the process? I doubt it.

1) People know that Tomlin is a good leader, and a good manager.

LOL. A devastating "fact" there.

They know he develops talent.

Totally. Nearly every position is much weaker than it was when Tomlin took over. Both lines have fallen apart. The pass rush has disappeared. Farrior hasn't been replaced. The secondary is a nightmare. Special teams are a joke. Yeah, we've just STOCKPILED talent across the board.

How funny/sad is it that it took JAMES HARRISON - a Cowher holdover - to kickstart this team? As usual, the majority of our success over the last two weeks has come from Cowher holdovers.

James Harrison was a fringe player when Tomlin got his hands on him. He took off in 2007, Tomlin's first year. Look at the work he's done with recievers over the years. No one thought Mike Wallace would be what he became, and what's he done since he left?

Oh, OK. Harrison was only good because of Tomlin. Makes sense; Tomlin has drafted and developed lots of good pass rushers.

2) The disrespect to Tomlin is also disrespect to the Rooneys. They know coaches, which is why we've had 3 in 40 years.

So I should claim they're right about every decision? Rivera over Marino remains the right call, because they're the Rooneys?

3) Mike has yet to turn in a losing season. Cowher went 6-10 twice before winning the big game.

But he's missed the playoffs three times in seven years. To me, THAT'S a losing season. To me, 8-8 and watching the playoffs is the same as 0-16. Especially the ways in which we manage to miss the playoffs. Beating the Browns in Week 17 to hit 8-8 doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy.

4) Mike is the youngest head coach to win a SB, and the youngest head coach with 2 appearances (both before he turned 40).

Of course. He deserves full credit for the team winning the Super Bowl. He's absolved from blame for embarrassing losses, but the wins PROVE he's an outstanding coach.

5) And before you start repeating the lie of our supposed inherited greatness, the Woodley/Harrison combo did not exist under Cowher, who wen't 8-8 (the same record that supposedly dooms Tomlin) with that same roster when he hung it up in 2006.

No, Porter was there. Tomlin started Harrison because Porter left. In fact, Tomlin drafted Timmons to replace Porter which of course failed immediately.

**** your racism bullshit. I loved Tomlin at the start. Hell, I love the guy now, I just see him as a semi-incompetent coach.

And now you're all being shown the error of your ways. The question is: will you learn anything in the process? I doubt it.

I couldn't care less what you of all people think is an error. We know what you consider good and bad.

Listen to yourself Idioteque. Go back and read your last post and the silly responses in it. You sound like an angry 13 year old Ravens fan who just watched tonight's game. Total haterism. No willingness at all to give Tomlin his due. Not one, not a single one of your responses to my post is factually true. Hell, Timmons and Porter DON'T EVEN PLAY THE SAME POSITION.

Dude.

You need to study up a bit.

I'll start you off here: http://triblive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/sports/steelers/s_505205.html#axzz3HzKcd9ZJ and http://rosenhaussports.com/2007/07/timmons-agrees-to-5-year-contract/

You may be right. But Timmons is a starter. One who's making plays. So what does that say about your hate on Tomlin, considering he got both players (Timmons and Harrison) on the field together?

Oh wait, sorry. That would mean Tomlin did something right, which you can never acknowledge.

It was a good win. I am still not convinced the team played well because of Mr Tomlin. At this point the team may be playing out of pride just to spite Mr Tomlin. I will give it one more week before I start to sing Mr Tomlins praises.
