Why is Matt Canada employed?

JT spitin fire about Canada's scheme from way back in the preseason. Flip-side: high praise for Pickett.

O'Sullivan is not the end-all be-all. But the man has more than a few points and the scheme has generally been the same weird **** - e.g. running two routes into the same zone?!@!. i caught exactly that and commented about it in a game thread a few weeks ago. Reeks of inexperience with the Offensive Coordinator.

I don't know about that. Coach Tomlin is very loyal to his friends. Many have said Sullivan would be next in line but I'm open to nearly anyone that could replace O'Canada. It's been a year to late and these players football life has depreciated for that.

My question is NO HOT SEAT talk about Tomlin, here or the media.

Because scapegoat Canada still in place taking the heat, just like Fitchner before him the sacrificial lamb will be unceremoniously not resigned after the season’s heat finally gives him a mild sunburn and Shades will be sitting pretty biz as usual with a new scapegoat in place

Media and people in general are fearful to criticize Tomlin in fear of being canceled. If telling it how it is cancels me so be it. He’s an average coach. He was handed a super bowl contender and won one with Cowhers team and coaching staff. Teams been downward trending since then. I mean think about it. Cardinals take the lead and what does Roethlisberger do? Leads a drive with perhaps the best thrown game winning TD in super bowl history. And yo end the half James Harrison has to go 98 with a pick six.

100% hear yaz Ford and feel / see the same thing, over and over and over and over......... but nothing gets better. How far into the slump before the ownership says this is enough ???

No appearance of HOT SEAT but sometime Coach Tomlin is going to have to be accountable. Enough uproar from the minor owners and players may get something done but as it it's been nothing but Ho-Hum a far as accountability.

Doing the same thing over and over yet expecting a different outcome is the deffinition of..................... you know what.!!!

I think he knows it deep down. His pressers show it. Sometimes I can hear the nervousness in his voice and other times he's just flat out angry and gets the big eyes daring a reporter to ask another question.

Lot of peeps thought the same when Randy was OC. I prefer they bring a up and comer offense positional coach or a former HC that was promoted due to his explosive offenses. One or the other...

I see that too, his body language says "I don't want to be here".

I like the guy as a man and even some of his Tolinism(s) are funny as hell. His coaching style has been nothing but a sinking ship.

I totally hear yaz slash. I most certainly want outside organization personell. The reason is because we all have seen what Coach Tomlin does with promotion from with-in. Sooner or later Coach Tomlin is going to have be sent packing because currently this sinking ship is not going to be righted with internal promotions and weak Assistant / Head coaching.

He simply is employed at the moment because he is under contract. Mr Rooney is the new Mr. Brown.

Here's the big problem nobody has mentioned yet. Tomlin approved this offense. Many fans may have been fooled last year when we were repeatedly told it was all Ben's fault and they weren't really running Canada's offense. We heard that a ton. But Tomlin damn well knew that was a lie. At least he better have known that they were in fact running Canada's offense last year. And Tomlin gave Canada another year. Plus he seemingly drafted the QB Canada wanted.

Canada's offense sucks. But Tomlin bares responsibility. He's like a politician that gave a building contract to a company that uses substandard materials. When the building collapses, whose fault is it?

We've been saying Canada runs a college offense. The problem is he runs a simple college offense. Lots of college concepts are in the NFL including some of Canada's. The difference is NFL teams have added onto the basic model, Canada hasn't.

The Eagles are running a college offense. Watch all of the creative misdirections and route combinations. Watch all the ways the get guys like AJ Brown and Devonte Smith in space. I also want you to realize that these are all the things the steelers can do as well. Sure the Eagles OL is better but part of why they are better is the scheme keeps defenses guessing.

Watch what the Eagles do and then ask yourself why the Steelers can't do similar things with guys like Picket, DJ, Claypool, Freiermuth.

Madsomniac and myself have mentioned this point multiple times all season. This isn’t a one-year deal with this offense. It had been a problem for four years with two offensive coordinators and five quarterbacks. There is only one constant in the mix and that’s the head coach.

The Rooneys simply aren't going to fire their first Rooney Rule hire. Like other coaches, they will just let his contract run out.
Problem is that I'm sure he hears the talk that he won everything he won with Cowher's team and wants to prove that he can win a SB with HIS team, which won't happen because he isn't that good, but I don't think he'll leave on his own for a while. It'll take a few years for his ego to catch up with reality and realize like Cowher did that TV pays pretty good and it's a lot less work.
 
Thinking Canada has blackmail pictures. I thought the same thing years ago about Cowher starting Kordell at qb for a year or two longer than he should have.
