Well, it tricked Tomlin and the Deuce.I can remember Matt Canada as having a shifty, tricky offense. That was all the talk. Now we see it.

Part of the problem is the team can't ride the run and D to help Pickett enough consistently. To give Pickett his fair share of blame he isn't proficient enough yet to overcome both of those deficiencies. At this point-I’m riding out Canada either till week 14 or just let him fade away and not bring him back. Today he had shown some descent playcalling in the first half then he just regressed as the game went on. I liked what I saw from Pickett today (second half was eh). He looked like he grew some and I’ll take that as a stride in progress. The next oc needs to bring more out in him next year
Hopefully Art Jr or Weidl step in and replace him with or without Tomlin’s opinion or say. Hopefully they do bring in someone who can bring the best in Pickett out and bring a supportive offensive staff to help the trenches and the run gamePart of the problem is the team can't ride the run and D to help Pickett enough consistently. Canada continues his pattern since he has been with the team and that is constantly inconsistent.
To me the game was lost when Watt intercepted and they got FG. That was classic Canada **** call and KP probably not ready for the stage.Part of the problem is the team can't ride the run and D to help Pickett enough consistently. I’ve been playing around with who they would get… the Obvious move is just promoting Mike Sullivan… but they could bring in Mark Whipple, who has a tight relationship with Pickett, as OC, QB coach or offensive assistant… some ex Steelers like Duce Staley are definitely supposed to be on some short lists.. and they could always retread a guy like whisenhunt…Hopefully Art Jr or Weidl step in and replace him with or without Tomlin’s opinion or say. Part of the solution would be to invest in the Oline. Improve the talent on that left side. Yeah have a competent NFL OC. A better DC. A better ILber. A stud LT and CB is highly needed.Hopefully Art Jr or Weidl step in and replace him with or without Tomlin’s opinion or say. Once again, 44 drop back for Pickett versus just 20 carries for Harris. The Steelers needed to do a better job getting Harris heavily involved and to supplement the ground game with Warren/Snell.Part of the problem is the team can't ride the run and D to help Pickett enough consistently. Tomlin has to learn that next man up doesn’t work with a rookie qb stepping in for a HOF one… adjust and adapt…Once again, 44 drop back for Pickett versus just 20 carries for Harris. And there is again this recurring nugget.Once again, 44 drop back for Pickett versus just 20 carries for Harris. The Steelers needed to do a better job getting Harris heavily involved and to supplement the ground game with Warren/Snell.
And how naturally Kenny won't be as accurate if the options are limited due to sounder coverage on repetitive predictable.I just saw that quote, Slash. It makes sense. I was at the game and commenting on the second half how it looked like the defense knew when we were going to run the ball because hey attacked. The receivers were pretty well covered as well. The offense already limits itself scheme wise, but being predictable on top of things makes it even tougher. It also explains how the offense, both rushing and passing, looked bad in the second half.
They weren't competitive when it counted the most. Higher draft picks will not fix what handicaps this team. It will only help squeeze out possibly a few more wins. Case in example Watt is back yet they still scored over 30. Even with Kaz back too. There is not enough draft picks to mask what team philosophy fails are present.I get annoyed during the game, but at the end of the day it's ok. They were competitive and fought hard but lost. This team isn't going to win a championship if they sneak into the playoffs somehow. They gotta get some higher draft picks and try to improve the roster. it's just that simple. So playing hard and losing I guess I can accept for a year.
Watt isn't anywhere near 100%. Maybe not even 80%. You can see it in his play. He's not nearly as aggressive nor is he getting the push he normally gets. Sure, he'll still make a splash here and there, but we're not getting what he is capable of. Even playing like he is, he is a better option than his back up. That guy stinks. They weren't competitive when it counted the most. Higher draft picks will not fix what handicaps this team. It will only help squeeze out possibly a few more wins. If you think outcomes will change without coaching changes I have some bad news for you.
Choo Choo it won't.
There are two reasons to show the OC in the booth. 1. He is a puppet master and looks like a genius. The other is if he sucks. Matt is getting a lot of face time.
And where did I advance the idea that it would? I am fully aware of the limits of the coaching staff. I also believe every team has to overcome their coaching on occasion. Chuck Noll, even though he was called The Pope, wasn't infallible. Great talent overcomes coaching when necessary. The Steelers need more talent at certain positions. They also need better coaching. They are not mutually exclusive. They weren't competitive when it counted the most. Higher draft picks will not fix what handicaps this team. It will only help squeeze out possibly a few more wins.
