Why is Matt Canada employed?

If Tomlin is interfering in the offense, then i'd rather he actually do it out in the open and take the consequences.
He won’t even take credit for what he does on defense. You always have a scape goat when you never take responsibility.

I don't know. I try to stay positive. But we just aren't seeing anything different. That playcalling on those two drives when down 17-14, just awful. And it isn't likie the Pats, with the exception of that one pass were going downfield.
Tomlin must come clean about how much he is calling plays on D and on O because this is ridiculous.

You look at Pickens, Najee & Muth and must come to the damn conclusion that this offense is getting nothing with that kinda of talent walking around! Someone needs a firing. Ya just cannot have that level of skill on rook contracts and come away with zilch. Somebody is f*cking up.

Let’s say the O continues to suck and they finally decide to fire Canada. Who would be a good replacement? I would assume they would promote within since it is during the season- anyone you want to see run the O?
Ben hahaha

1) He knows the Fitchner O
2) He knows Canada’s even more simplistic version of it
3) Has a proven history of drawing up plays in the dirt that are effective on game day
4) Could help with teaching scramble drill to the WRs
5) A guy that Tomlin respects, maybe even enough to get his hands outta the offense
6) Would bring back the no huddle

I think the known is he doesn't on O and on D he did but now is yielding the responsibility to the DC and Flores. I have no problem with how the D is overall performing. The O-trocious is another matter entirely.

Last year Canaduh removed the no-huddle offense himself. This year, it took almost 6 quarters for them to use a dump off to Najee. He was getting nice chunks of yards yesterday when they did it. Why did it take 6 quarters? That would have worked beautifully against Cinci with either Najee or Warren (who has shown he is very capable of catching out of the backfield). I was telling my wife this when, lo and behold, they threw to Najee. They are playing to their fears and very conservative. Well, this type of play if very conservative and gets some yardage. And, what happened with putting Trubisky on the move. We had 3rd and short and I was thinking roll him out. He can throw or run for the 2 yards if it is there. They attempted a 10+ yard play and it had no chance. This is what Canaduh loves but in this game, he didn't put Trubisky in motion much.

And like I said last week, I don't care what the teams issues are, this O should still easily put up 20+ per game yet we haven't come close in 2 games. Play to win no matter who you have on the field. We have a ton of skilled players. Use them. Where are the throws down the sidelines they practiced all during camp? You have Pickens, Claypool or DJ 1 on 1 down the sidelines, you go to that play. Take a quick 3 step drop and throw it down the sidelines and let them do what they do - go up and get it.

3 Years huh?

LSU[edit]

On December 14, 2016, Canada was hired to become the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at LSU.[8] He held those positions for the 2017 season and on January 5, 2018, LSU and Canada mutually agreed to part ways.[9]

Damn Badcat, maybe his ineptitude and anemic offense was so burned into my brain that it FELT like 3 years. Thanks for the correction.

Just going to put this here...Last three Offensive Coordinators were Mike Tomlin Hires who have run the same offense. Bruce Arians started the bubble screen bullshit short throw offense and it's just been stuck there in Pittsburgh with a few wrinkles here and there. Ken Whisenhunt was our last great OC

So brook Pryor is reporting that Tomlin said they didn’t take any deep shots because Belicheat specializes in taking those away…

Literally the abomination we saw yesterday was planned by the staff because they were afraid to challenge a Belicheat defense…

****, last week he said we didn't throw down the field because "negative implications" can occur. Coming from Mr. "We don't live in our fears."

I'm 100% for firing Canada. today. right now. before you've finished reading the first sentence.

Promote Mike Sullivan. He's held the OC job before, and did rather well.

They all should be pissed with Canaduh's offense. They are doing nothing they practiced (and were apparently good at) during OTA's, camp and the preseason. No jump balls to Claypool or Pickens yet. No balls to Muuth streaking down the middle of the field. Have we even seen a single quick-hitting crossing pattern? You know, the plays they refused to call last year as well. I already commented on why it took almost 6 quarters to start dumping short balls off to Najee to help open things up. This O has tremendous skill players and we have not attempted to use them in the first 2 games.

Here’s Tua’s passing chart week 1 vs Pats. They weren’t afraid to spread it around. Also note this was game 1 under a new offense

Just for reference, here’s Flacco from yesterday against the browns, Just to preemptively debunk them saying the Browns are too good to throw deep against. Should also be noted the Jets OL is not good and Flacco is a statue.

Yup. After a long stint here the Tomlin coaching tree is non existant. That says A LOT

Quick, name Tomlin assistants that left PIT on an upward professional trajectory or went on to move up to a higher coaching position.....

I've got NO ONE. In fact the only one to even make a parallel move from here is Munciak and its not like Tomlin did any development or mentoring to him a veteran all pro and former head coach
