Ocasio-Cortez backs campaign to primary fellow Democrats
The incoming congresswoman endorses an effort by the group Justice Democrats to make the House Democratic Caucus more liberal and diverse by taking on incumbents.
"Long story short, I need you to run for office," Ocasio-Cortez said Saturday on a video conference call hosted by Justice Democrats, as the group launched a campaign dubbed “#OurTime.” Justice Democrats supported Ocasio-Cortez's primary campaign against powerful Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.).
The incoming congresswoman's chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, a co-founder of Justice Democrats, was blunter.
"We need new leaders, period," he said on the call. "We gotta primary folks."
The group said it wants Democratic members of Congress to be representative of their diverse communities and support liberal policies like "Medicare for all," abolishing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, implementing a "Green New Deal" and rejecting corporate PAC donations. On the campaign trail, Ocasio-Cortez talked about forming a "corporate-free caucus" as a means to push for reform.

New York Democratic Representative-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may be a big hit with the media and younger crowd, but she’s not receiving any special treatment on Capitol Hill.
The 29-year-old socialist is in Washington, D.C., this week for orientation. She and other newly elected officials are touring the Capitol building, meeting with lawmakers, and learning the ins and outs of Congress.
So far, Ocasio-Cortez has stormed the office of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi for a protest, complained that everyone is confusing her an intern or spouse, and was captured in a photo standing alone and being excluded from a conversation between several older Democrats.
On Wednesday, a photo of Ocasio-Cortez standing all by herself like a child waiting for her parents to finish talking scorched across Twitter.
Prior to that, the socialist complained that she keeps being mistaken for an “intern or spouse” while touring Capitol Hill.
She vented her frustrations in a series of tweets on Wednesday, lashing out because people aren’t aware of who she is or giving her special treatment.
“People keep giving me directions to the spouse and intern events instead of the ones for members of Congress,” she tweeted.

Her tweet resulted in immediate push-back from many, with some joking about her getting directions on how to pay rent and others outright refuting her claim.
Conservative Arthur Schwartz said a congressman told him that there weren’t any events for interns on Wednesday, suggesting that Ocasio-Cortez made it up for attention.
“At dinner with a congressman. He said there were no intern events today that he knows of. His staff said same,” Schwartz tweeted.
She is acting exaclty as I expected her to act- as an entitled millenial.

Truthfully, I really don't care how she acts. She doesn't represent me or my district.
What I do care about is the stupid *** legislation she is going to try and push through, and that her lack of knowledge of the basic workings of our government could be the kind of thing that causes problems for Americans across the country. She made some pretty lofty promises to get elected, and I have my doubts that she can deliver any of it, and that is a good thing if she can't whether people realize it or not. Logic would say she will likely flame out pretty quickly, but then she DID get elected in the first place, so who knows?

Problem Solvers Dems: We 'cannot support' Pelosi for Speaker 'at this time'
A band of Democrats who are demanding House rule reforms have yet to reach a deal with Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), the group announced Friday, putting up a potential roadblock in Pelosi’s quest to reclaim the Speaker’s gavel.
Nine Democrats on the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus have vowed to withhold their votes for Speaker unless the candidate agrees to overhaul the House rules. Pelosi, who has been open to such changes, met with the group last week and promised to put in writing the changes to which she would commit.
But the Democrats say they have yet to receive any specific commitments, calling the situation a “stalemate”. They had initially requested a response by last Friday but agreed to give the California Democrat a few more days.
“While we appreciate Leader Pelosi’s broad commitment to our effort, we have yet to receive specific commitments to our proposed rules changes that would help ‘Break the Gridlock’ and allow for true bipartisan governing in this new era of divided government,” the Democrats said in a statement provided to The Hill.

A new survey found that roughly 20 percent of American Millennials have been brainwashed into believing that the U.S. flag is a symbol of “intolerance and hatred.”
According to the “State of American Patriotism Report,” which was designed to assess the patriotism and historical knowledge of young Americans, also found that six in 10 Millennials (ages 22-37) actually believe the United States is racist and sexist.
As bad as these results are, it gets worse: The survey results indicate that love for country is declining among young Americans in general.
For instance, nearly half — 46 percent — of young Americans between the ages of 14 and 37 did not agree with the statement, “America is the greatest country in the world.”
Also, more than half — 53 percent — say the U.S. is a sexist country, while 54 percent said our country is racist.
