College Football Bowls

That Pitt game really took some turns. They would've been fine with Patti starting, but Beville coming in basically took all chances away from winning. I was stunned Michigan State took so long to take the lead. Pitt's defense was still good, but Beville was a statue out there.

Colbert attended a UNC practice early in the season and was present for the Pitt-UNC game.

Ugh....god no. I want no part of that turd at qb for UNC

You can tell Pitt and the Steelers share the same facility. Neither defense can hold a 2nd half lead.

Honestly surprised they held on as long as they did.
Yeah they were just down too many key players… i don’t blame pickett for opting out, but having to go third string after prepping NP all week just to see him break his collarbone in the first and already with a backup OC you knew it was going to be a stretch to complete… they hung in till the virtual end and were a poor pick six away from an attempt to tie it up

It was a good showing and was the same as the Steelers trying to win with Duck Hodges a couple of years ago. Maybe you win that game 3 times out of 10, but just way too much to overcome with the QB disparity. I can't say I even care that much because bowl games have become completely meaningless with the playoffs and opt outs/transfers.

Bowls got meaningless the second they decided that every team with six wins should get in one

True, considering they invented a new bowl game this year just so every bowl eligible team could go to one.

44 bowl game… it was 5 for decades tgen it was 7-9 for a long while… when i grew up it was still under 20 and it was watered down then

I mean its a joke exhibition at this point… then you have coaches moving to get a jump on recruiting, players transferring and opting out… i mean its a random Thursday night… if Pitt or penn state aren’t in a bowl I’m not watching… maybe the playoffs if nothing better is on… but they matter

Would have been interesting to see how Pitt MSU turned out with Picket and Walker. Both are most of their team's offenses. MSU's pas defense is terrible so with Pickett, Pitt probably would have won by double digits, but Walker may have kept Pickett on the sidelines and the game close.

Hard to imagine Cincy beating Bama, but if you were going to make the case, it's that they do in theory have an NFL caliber QB who can scramble. And on defense they have some ballhawking CBs that may be able to get some INTs. Bryce Young does make mistakes when pressured. It happened a few times this year.

I think Michigan has to come out throwing if they want to win. You aren't going to out-muscle Georgia. You have to throw to beat that Georgia defense. Georgia doesn't have great WRs. If you can get a few early scores, maybe you take them out of their gameplan like Bama did.

I think Cincinnati is going to be humiliated by Alabama at an historic level. That game will be close until kickoff. They put Cincinnati in the playoff to prove that teams like Cincinnati should never be in the playoff.
Maybe they get butchered, maybe not, but you can't say Cincy doesn't belong with an undefeated record. The old "who have they played" didn't seem to matter in the old days when it was a simple vote. I remember 1984 when BYU won it all by being undefeated and then beating a 6 - 6 Michigan team to finish 13 - 0. There are probably a half dozen teams that could have beaten them but bowl games were locked in to conference championships and they couldn't pair them with a better opponent.

Pity’s run defense is good. Walker would’ve gotten yards, but I don’t see that game being close with Pickett playing.

my rooting interest to win it all.
1. Cincy
2. Georgia
3. Alabama
4. Covid cancellation.

i wish the Georgia game was first and Michigan lost so I could then I could root for Cincy. As it stands now I’m actually rooting for Bama so Michigan has the toughest possible path.

add Penn State CB Tariq Castro Fields to the opt outs. I have a roster up to watch this game. Hopefully PSU has some young WRs step up and they can score some points because it doesn;t seem like they'll be able to stop Arkansas offense with so many starters missing

Penn State lost to Iowa when Clifford got hurt and their backup wasn't ready to play. Today we get to see Penn State's backup Will Levis of Kentucky go against Iowa and see how he does.
