Combine Results/Observations

Bryce Wheaton-Ford, 6'4 221 lbs, 33in arms, ran a 4.38, 41in vert, 10'9 broad. Man I didn't expect that, need to dig in the tape on him
One of the first early visits. Yeah might have to hunt down some tape on him, I know little to nothing about him.

I just don't see how Benching equates to NFL physicality. Plenty of smaller guys have been very physical like hines and troy. Then you have guys like Bush.....

For DL and LB, bench press matters. I see defenders literally "bench press" blockers away from them to get to the ball carrier. The test is not dispositive but it does give some information about a defender's ability to shed blocks.

Also, I think the test matters simply because anybody willing to work and lift should be as strong as possible for his body size. Big guys who can't lift 225 at least 10x suggest to me they are just not willing to work.

Finally, if your bench press angst stems from your own shortcomings, I suggest joining a gym. Most will give you a 60-day introductory period for free and membership is generally around $15/month. If you had, say, an extra $50, that would be more than five months of gym membership so you could ...

Hold on ...

I hope Wicks runs a 4.55 and lessens some teams' interest so he is still there at 120. He is big, cuts like a jeweler, would be a perfect Y receiver. Pickens, Wicks, Austin III and Freiermuth would be a hellacious group to defend against.

Not to mention of course it would also take away the frigging ridiculous notion that we draft a WR in the first 3 picks.
For 2 years we have all been screaming for the big boys. Tackle,Center,D line or a #1 DB. One of them will there. No arrogant bull **** WR pick. Man I hope Addison is gone when we step up to that podium.

Side note. Why is nobody mentioning Sydney Brown. The guy is having a huge combine.

Skoronski with practically the same measurements than Broderick Jones. If some people find Skor small for the LT position I guess they must think the same of Broderick.
I'd take both without a doubt just to make it clear.

He came in at 165lbs and ran 4.5.

Thanks SteelerSask2

Dang, that's fast, but slow, and to light. Later round if we trade back and have a 5th or 6th to spare.

Quentin Jonhston and Jalin Hyatt won the WR combine. Addison just put himself out of the early 1st conversation.

What was the arm length difference? I thought that was supposibly a plus for Broderick that he had long arms..

FWIW, Addison's combine numbers are not too dissimilar to AB's.
Can't get too caught up in numbers. You just want to make sure that they aren't alarmingly off . Better than what tape shows? Some athletes in shorts just test better. Some athletes in pads just play better. Now if on tape there is a concern and they don't test well. Sure be worried. Coming off injury and won't test or don't test well? Sure be worried. Jarvis showed run defending concerns. Then didn't test well. Should have been an uhoh but for whatever reason he was drafted 1.

If you are underweight or undersized and don't test well then I wonder what putting on weight will do. For those prospects I would rather pass early...

I think there is enough buzz on Dell that he lands high enough to not be drafted by the Steelers who have other needs. I'm thinking 3, 4. They shouldn't go third for a receiver like that where they already have one.

I wouldn't be scared off by his numbers. I just wouldn't draft a receiver in that spot.

For me repetitively who is the BPA? Is that player in 2 or 3 or 4 have starting potential? Outside of QB and RB ring the bell.

Steelers Depot has an article on the corners, a good read. Athletically they are stocked well. Now compare that to the tape and there should be some happy campers out there. Cam is still my favorite. Not that I wouldn't be happy with some of the others.

I've been looking for the post where I gave my thoughts on Dell's 40 time

I want to say I thought he was a mid 4.4's...the combine site shows 4.49 or a bit slower than I thought

40 time is **** anyway, technique mean as much as your real speed

Dell's game is more quickness anyway HIs 10 yard split was1.49

below is his gauntlet run. and i've seen several reports of his route running being among the best in his group anyway

I was hoping Addison was going to kill it. hoping he is gone by 17.

The kid is a good player Coolie. I don't dispute that. He is high school sized and he is probably going to be drafted higher than when the Steelers should even consider him with their needs. That is pretty much undisputeable.

Here is one I laughed at. They were talking the price of rice for Indy to move up to where the Bears are. If anyone thinks these FO people are SO much smarter than the rest of us listen to that. It sounded like a swap of 4ths, a second and a first next year for the right to move up three spots. Why? There is no consensus Qb. And hell if my choice of the two doesn't fall to me there will be whole new crop next year all muscled up and running fast.
