Gerry Dulac is reporting Pickett to the Eagles

The coaching staff asked him to not throw TD passes? To only score 16 PPG? To run himself into pressure and lock in on receivers while missing wide open options?
Pickett's #1 job was to play conservative and not turn the ball over. Shades' idea of a good game is not turn the ball over and let defense win the game. Problem is that 1) his defense isn't that good and 2) his offense doesn't put up enough points in the modern version of the NFL (see #1).

I think the defense has been good enough the past two seasons. Top-10 finish in points allowed both years including 10 games allowing 20 or fewer points last season.

The Steelers tied for the league lead with Seattle with 8 comeback wins and was second in the NFL with 4 fourth quarter comebacks.

We often talk about Pickett's ability late in games. He has 7 game-winning drives and the defense held their opponents to fewer than 20 points in all 7 games. The Steelers averaged 19.1 points for and 13.3 points against. You are absolutely correct that the offensive production is not enough to get it done.

He was asked to play careful with the ball and not turn it over. If you didn't see that I don't think it's worth continuing this discussion. It will all play out in the long run.

$$$$$$$ post. Why when we got into the REDZONE you rarely saw Pickett throw into the EZ. Low-risk passes. I wonder how many targets our huge TE Washington got down inside the 10? I personally can't remember even one. Hope I am wrong on that....for the coach's sake.

Problem was the offense was usually averaging less than 16.

Eagles just signed Will Grier. So it’s Grier, McKee and Kenny. I give KP a 20% chance of making the roster.
I'll take 4:1 odds on KP making the Eagles' opening day roster all day long. How much do you want to lose?

Not to rain on any parades, and I may be wrong, but, don’t they usually handle Tomlin’s extensions closer to training camp? Like May or June. DK and Dulac have both said they don’t expect an extension until the Summer.
Tomlin signed his last extension on April 20th, 2021. The other 3 were done in July and early August. So your point is valid.

I'd been hopeful this time around based on the reports right after the loss to Buffalo stating that an extension was imminent, and it hadn't happened. If there isn't one in place by mid-August, then I'll feel a whole lot better.

Make him work for that ****. The players do. You know maybe have the team look polished for a change.

Perhaps even beat bad teams handily instead of getting embarrassed by looking like a jv team who doesn't even practice.

I wouldn’t say he’s guaranteed the backup spot. Tanner McKee is light years more talented. I would say Pickett has a leg up with his experience but is far from a lock to be the backup or even make the team. If philly drafts a guy late and McKee beats Kenny out then the Eagles could go with a cheaper option at #3.

Wait!!! You mean Kenny isn't going to start over Jalen Hurts??? He can't beat the current #2, Tanner McKee??? Excellent move, Mr. 13 TDs and 13 INTs, excellent move...

We go from Kenny outplaying Hurts to this. I wouldn't put much into either report. I have been checking eagles camp reports and most say Pickett has been decent with a bigger arm than expected.

Never be too certain one way or the other. Hurts gets blown up week one. Pickett is getting first shot. Started more games.

I saw a couple of Eagles guys doing a podcast saying McKee had a real chance to win the QB2 job and this was before it was reported McKee got second-team snaps. If Pickett had any level of compete, he would've had all the QB1 reps throughout training camp so far and a chance to win the job by producing and earning it. With that said, he's gone now and the Steelers got a young QB with huge upside if he can ever put it together. I still have my doubts, but it's been encouraging to hear it's been night and day since minicamp for FIelds.

Apparently. He wore #8 here to signify his hand size. Apparently his 8in. hands lost an inch.

Kenny should NEVER wear the number 7. Such a disgrace to that great number. How about "13"??? That's fits better...

If he was here in Pittsburgh, I’d 100% agree with yaz.

B-U-T

He is somewhere else so I could hardly even care about him or his small hand actions.
