Why dont Ben and Santonio get more credit for the throw and catch in the Super Bowl vs Arizona. I know im bias but how more clutch could you get. The degree of difficulty on the throw alone. The concentration on the catch and body control to get his feet down. Will this play ever get props it deserves? Much better then the Catch IMO.

Who is dissing them? The Steelers usually get screwed by ESPN because they are loaded with pats* fans. They are located in Bristol.

Nobody is just doesnt seem to get its props as the great throw and catch it was.. Thinking maybe because it had to be reviewed takes the element of greatness from it. Just finished watching it so maybe im stuck in yhe moment.

Better than the helmet catch due to the fact that the THREE Cardinal defenders all did their jobs on the throw. It was perfectly defended and nearly impossible to complete. Nothing fluky, nothing dazzling, no amazing stroke of luck. Just a flawless play around. Hot damn.

As to why it gets ignored, I think it's overshadowed by Harrison's INT return. That's the image most remember of that Bowl.

Hey, we can agree! Personally, though, I think the winning pitch and catch was the best ever - but, we know I'm biased too...

I dont think Ben helped the cause when he said he should not have thrown the ball and thought it was going to be intercepted.

If you take out the "last-minute game-winner" angle, though, there's no beating Swann in X.

How many last minute super bowl winning TD throws have there been? Montana to Taylor, Ben's throw was way more difficult.

I would say the drive was more difficult too. 88 yards with no line and Santonio wasting time signalling first down with every catch.

When you watch what the "old school" WRs had to deal with in the way of defenders trying to hurt them (especially away from the play) you gotta give it to Swann. He didn't last too long but he was pretty spectacular when he played. The double-touch, falling down catch over Mark washington was one of my favorites for sure.

Most of today's players (not named Hines) would be cryin' for momma under the old rules.

The Bradshaw TD bomb to Swann to win Super Bowl X was much more impressive and much more clutch. The Steelers were trailing and Bradshaw was knocked out on the throw by a cheap shot from Larry Cole ,we lose that game if that pass isn't thrown perfectly. Ben's TD pass to Holmes was great but it was not as important as Swann's TD because the Steelers only trailed by 3 and the chip shot FG would have forced overtime it was not a do or die situation like Swann's great catch.

Wasn't there a nice pass from Randel L to Hines Ward in a super bowl.

The game was re-broadcast this past weekend. I saw it while in a hotel room in Sarasota. That play was top 5 ever in the SB and is debatably the best. Just the drive down the field with Holmes and Ben connecting several times. The play before it was a throw to Holmes in the left corner that was just out of his fully stretched body. Then, with three defenders between he and Ben, Ben threw a bullet that only Holmes could grab and come down with the tip of his toes. The margin of error was non-existent. There was none. The throw had to be perfect (an inch or so over the outstretched hands of three defenders). The catch had to be perfect. The tapping of the toes had to be perfect and holding the ball as he hit the ground from that high in the air had to be perfect. And, then, the officials still had to make the correct call.

It was a thing of beauty that all Steeler fans and any true football fan can appreciate with awe.

I remember freaking out when Fitzgerald scored but instantly calming down when they showed Ben confidantly grabbing his helmet. I knew we would win after that moment. Tried to invoke the same feeling against Green Bay but it just wasnt the same. Ben and Santonio should of been Co-MVPs

weren't the Steelers leading the game at that point? That TD increased the lead to 21-10 after a missed extra point. Dallas came back and scored a TD....Steelers recovered the onside kick and tried to kill the clock by running the ball, even went for it on 4th down and turned the ball back over to Dallas..game ended on a Steeers int.

He made up for a previous play where he had just missed, or rather Santonio let the pass slip thru his hands in the back left corner of the endzone....That game winner was the very next play..a drop back, quick pump and sling.

Because they should have completed the easier pass to the opposite corner of the endzone on the play before.

Once Fitzgerald made that catch and you could see the running room, I actually rooted for him to score. Arizona had all the momentum, their offense was clicking, the steeler defense was gassed. The worst thing would be for Fitz to get tackled inside the 20 and the Cards then use up the clock and score in the closing seconds.

it was much better that the steelers got the ball with plenty of time.

Ben to Santonio was incredible. The most memorable part of that play however, was my father in law sitting on the floor in the middle of my den; jumping up, throwing his hands in the air, and punching the light bulb out of my ceiling fan.

Well the next day Ben to SH was on ESPN round the clock. I really enjoyed it when TJ Whoseyourmomma was in the studio as they were doing the recap and he had to mouth off about Stonio not getting both feet planted.
Sour graped jerk.

"I laugh at their sorrows."

The steelers were ahead when Bradshaw hit Swann. The pass Ben made won the super bowl, a FG does tie it, but it doesn't change the fact that the TD won the game.

The greatest throw and catch is Vinny Testaverde to Pete Giftopolous.
