I am officially on the KP8 train

At some point the Vikes have to be considering moving on from overpaying One O'clock Kirk. They may have been interested.
They may have. But they also had 4 picks in the top 66 to make that happen. Also, they drafted Kellen Mond with pick #66 in 2021.

You’re right Sarge

After his first season starting seven games Mahomes was 20 TDs and 5 INTs… KP doesn’t compare favorably

KP really struggles for TD passes, especially in the red zone
So have all of our QB's for the last 3 years. Maybe it isn't the QB.

Kitchen Police for 8 week? No fn way

Did it ever occur to you that this draft (QB-wise) may have been KP >>>>>>>>>the rest

Maybe there was 1 QB worthy of a 1st round pick and the rest were projects
No. Because he wasn’t KP>>>>>>>>>>> the other qbs. There was no consensus top qb this last draft.

This may or may not be true, the draft is a crap shoot, the difference being that as soon as you throw the dice, you know immediately whether you're a winner or not, with the NFL, it's longer than 8 games. This is one of those threads that 2 years from now you'll be remembered as a genius or something less.

Doesn't mean KP wasn't greater than the rest. Obviously the FO viewed it that way. They had their pick of the litter and chose KP. Only time will reveal if it was the right choice.

I mean, he is a rookie and game managing is typically what rookies do. Even everyone's favorite rookie game manager Ben Roethlisberger took years to shed that title. Then again, not all young QBs can look as good as Mason Rudolph so we shall see.
Ben unfairly got the game manager tag due to having one of the Best Runningbacks in the league, and top Defense. also beating the media darling "peyton" in the playoffs just amplified the game manager hate from the media. In reality he started his career with two of the best seasons ever for a rookie and second year guy.

KP needs to learn the pump fake like BB had. BB's pump fakes were legendary. Then again, KP's hands may be too small to use the pump fake a lot even with the gloves.

Yeah, I don't like talking in absolutes when no one knows **** about the future or what ifs scenarios.

baby pumps with his baby hands

Time definitely will tell how Pickett turns out. But the fact remain we likely get Pickett in round two. Colbert always had the tendency to force a need early in the draft and he stated before he left he really wanted to make sure the Steelers had their future QB before retiring. Hopefully Pickett is it. But I saw the same strategy with drafting Najee, Bush, Edmunds, Burns, and Jarvis Jones. There's been varying levels of success with that strategy as Edmunds has turned into a solid starter and Bush and Najee had early success and we will see where they end up in the scheme of things. But my point remains this was the weakest QB class in recent memory. I stated early on guys might get pushed to the bottom of the first due to lack of quality players and if you wanted "your guy" you could likely do so by making a move into the first to grab them. Maybe Pickett will be a hall of fame QB. I really don't know that and if he does then thank god we grabbed him at 20. I just didn't see that type of talent from him and I am still waiting for it.

1:20 IS bottom 3rd of the first. So, the top QB on the Steelers' went exactly where you predicted. What's the complaint again? You think it was likely that they could have gotten Pickett at 2:52? Or that you think they could have traded back up into the very last part of the first to get him? Exactly how "sure" are you that Pickett would have been there at the Steelers' pick in the 2nd? If you're the Steelers, do you take the chance that the guy you really wanted will be there and that some other team doesn't pick him before your second round pick? As for trading up to get him at the very last part of the first; well, I don't know the value chart, but, I'm going to assume that in order to do so, we would have had to sweeten the pot with at least our 2nd round pick, which became Pickens and maybe our 3rd, which became Leal. Where is the "value" in that?

I didn't say bottom 1/3. I said bottom. To be 100% honest my biggest gripe is that Colbert didn't jump on the Chiefs trade. I mean that was just such a bone head move. Chiefs jumped up to 21st pick so you know it was on the table for Colbert at 20. We could have got 29th, 94th and 121st. In that scenario we still most likely get Pickett if that is Colbert's guy but we get two more players to improve the roster to boot.

That's a funny play on words there, using the word "fact" with "likely". It's not a fact, it's simply speculation, funny how you always talk about "this is a fact and that is a fact" and yet most of the time it's your own opinion, interpretation, or speculation. None of which are at all factual, because how could it be. You have zero idea what happens if we don't take Pickett at 20, and there is no possible way of knowing that. You do not have the ability to look into every possible outcome like you're Dr Strange.

So they take Pickett the second and then they don't get George Pickens. We also don't get Chicago's second-round pick because they aren't trading Claypool .

So have all of our QB's for the last 3 years. Maybe it isn't the QB.
nope
its definitely the QB when he is missing open guys due to misread or inaccuracy
As much as I loathe Canada, even I can't blame him for that

I've been looking at Pickens as our 1st and Picketts as our 2nd
Makes so much more sense that way talent-wise

Like I said it has been all of our QBs for three years. Ben was missing open guys and having accuracy issues last year as much as any of our guys. KP being a rookie fair or not gets a bit of a pass from me for this year as any rookie QB should.

I am ok with where they took him. He has been playing more like a 1st round QB lately. I think his value was spot on for mid to low first. Not even close to a fact they get Pickett if they sit on selecting him there. Teams tend to maneuver when they see a prospect falling they like.

I never realized how small his hands really are.
