Young C/G with decent run-blocking skills. He certainly won't be wearing 52 here.

3 year contract....He didn't come to sit.
He is what I have been preaching. Mid tier free agent. But a solid performer that can play C or G. He will upgrade the run blocking and will capture a start I think at C, but G is in play too.

well I was preaching for James Daniels, a true top starter
He can still be signed. I am hoping they sign a G still.

Definately improvement. We just need one more but higher quality OL. Maybe a top draft pick but I think they go CB / DL/ then maybe OL

I saw one "mock" where the STEELERS didn't take any OL at all. All defensive pics except 2 (WR & RB)

Salute the nation

As I said in the other thread, solid signing if you had some good pieces in place already. They are banking on Dan Moore playing well and Green playing at an NFL level. I could see them drafting an IOL early still.

I hope they aren't banking on Green for anything. But yeah I see a Oline C or G drafted high.

3 years 15m you can stroke off one of the three interior positions to start. With Dotson being another you are down to one. And that still leaves Green I know I know but he played one season thrown to the wolves and Hassaneaur. If they draft a stud at 1.20 or 2.20 they are full and hope the new coach knows what the **** he is doing.

I think Cole is more of a Guard than going to be the steelers center. I was hoping for a better addition especially how bad our Line play was.

if they draft Zion it would be 3 bones / 4 dogs situation with Dotson, Cole, Green and Zion.

Forgot Dotson was in the doghouse last year. And knowing Tomlin's doghouse, he'll still be digging himself out come training camp.

I think this is a depth piece. He is not a "legit" starter that will improve the OL - not at all. Hopefully, like Chuks, after 4+ years, he can still improve a lot but I don't see the upside with he or Chuks and don't see that our OL has improved.

Cole seems to be the Turnstile Turner replacement. If he ends up as a depth signing with a draft pick that excels, great. i just hope the Steelers interior OL is much better. Green got a lot of negative attention, but Turner was a far bigger disappointment, so this may be a cost neutral upgrade.

Agreed, but that Chuks deals is stupid. Way too much money. I'd rather lose him and take the projected 5th round comp pick. What happens if we draft a tackle in round one when he ready to play. Who sits, Chucks or Moore jr? I think Moore jr is the better player.

Chuks is a competent right tackle...and we got him at the going rate...plus I believe he still has upside potential..

Like the Cole signing...cant go wrong with a Michigan "big ugly" ;)

Chucks was flagged a bit too much ( 8 penalizes ) and failed to be a tackle you can run behind. He's sub par, but paid too much for his services.

Chuks has been playing for 4 years with little improvement. He has very little upside left. Moore still has tremendous upside and is already better than Chuks at LT and probably even RT. They could sign or draft a T and put him opposite Moore and the OL would be better than having Chuks there. If Chuks makes it past 1 year on his contract without significant improvement then, our OL will still be no better than we are now. His signing makes no sense unless you were going to just sign him for depth as the center they signed is.
