I still say all the arguments about the science are pointless if we as a global human community lack the understanding, ability or willpower to enact meaningful change. THAT is the bigger problem than whether or not global warming is real. Say all the climate change people are right... I haven't heard one realistic proposed solution. I was out yesterday and walked about four blocks between two stores. Garbage everywhere along the way. To me, this is a much more immediate problem than a poorly modeled possible future event. More importantly, maybe, is that it would be a much cheaper problem. Individuals can have a direct and demonstrable effect on the environment. Politicians could lead groups of people on weekly/monthly walks through the city to pick up the garbage. Win-win.

There's no money to be made in cleaning up trash, so there will be no outcry. Unless they start convincing gullible people that trash laying on the ground is the root cause of global warming. Still wouldn't get cleaned up though because then there would be no need for further funding if the problem got solved. It would simply lay around in the same place for 100 years or so while we do ridiculously expensive studies and "think" about what to do.

This is called weather, climate is averaged over increments of 30 to 40 years. I believe global warming exists, but not to the extent that it is some catastrophe. The earth / universe is going to do what it wants to do. Look at the destruction earthquakes / hurricanes / volcanoes / tornadoes do. The world shifts, climate changes, and the cycle goes on and on. I do believe that pollution / garbage is a problem. The only answer that I can think of for that is the world needs to severely cut its manufacturing of plastics

I will not claim to be an expert. But those satellite photos from the last 30 years showing a reduction in the ice cap are pretty convincing. I'm not saying Miami is going to be underwater in 10 years, but there does seem to be something there.

At one point the world looked like this. ^^^ The world will constantly change. Always has, always will. Doesn't mean we shouldn't try to keep her clean, but the gun to the head paranoia is comical in my humble opinion.
