What are the odds Cam proves worth $22 mill in 2024?

And in the meantime we have to hear his blow horn, immature threats of playing for the Browns. How insulting, he has completely renounced treating the Rooney family with ANY class after they paid him over $100 mill over his career. How insulting. I don't care what award he won, he is being a petulant child throwing temper tantrums in the checkout line at the grocery store. Grow the F up, Cam. You're being an embarrassment.

I know this will never resonate in your deaf ears……..

Cam never once said he was playing for Cleveland, or wanted to play for Cleveland. He never made a threat or indication of playing for Cleveland. As soon as that rumor surfaced, Cam shut it down immediately.

Read the article, it clears a lot up about the Cam Heyward process.

Greg Lloyd, you speak a lot of what you seem to know nothing about, is that a ”standard” for you?

Do you always feel ”left behind” because you can’t keep up with reality ?

Switch to ”real” water and leave the Kool-Aid alone.

Right, he wants a contract extension and IMO the Steelers are in complete control over the terms if he wants to finish his career here.
He's a 35-year-old DT didictally lecturing to everyone how his talents are not impacted by age like typical defensive linemen. Oh, he gives the "power lifter" speech. Last I checked powerlifters don't have 300+ LB OLmen trying to knock their heads in during lifts. Oops, you left that part out, Cam. Yea, Cam, you're a top 5 DT like I'm a professional ballerina.

How they opperate? How many contracts have they written that had voidable years? I only thought the league started that a few seasons back. I could be wrong. Cam is a beloved son with one playoff victory. Who is 35. The Steelers most likely will let Cam play out his contract (which is a gift) and then take stock where Cam's level of play is at and what they value it at on a real market value level. Cam will be able to shop around his talents. And things will shake out from there. There is no reason to extend Cam's contract. We don't need the cap space. He is at the tail end of his career. It makes zero sense. I am sure Rooney/Omar/Tomlin have it all figured out.
Yes, how they operate

If you’re in the family, you’re a made man

The Steelers Charitable organization will take care of their son is my prediction, charitable organizations operate differently than football teams.

It may come in the form of a new contract after this season, it may come in the form of an extension before that plays out…simply predicting it happens

Good lawd, they kept paying Tuitt didn’t they? Cam is producing more than that level at least.

Are you. And the Gregerator , buddies?
Buddies on a message board? No more or no less than we are I would suppose. Triple ZING!!!!!🤪

Another consideration, is Cam at his age better than Larry Ogunjobi in 2025? I could see them signing Cam to a one-year deal and released Ogunjobi after the season.

So lets see... ignoring old school examples like Webster, Franco, and Woodson... we have (in the AR2-Mike Tomlin era, had Hines, Troy, Timmons, and Ben who all wanted to keep their careers going but the team told them no and let them go... I cant really think of anyone who got this supposed blank check buddy treatment some are suggesting is in play here... does anyone have any examples of the team holding onto a guy and blank checking him till he retired?

Ben is the closest example and he was still viable when he retired and playing on a pittance for a qb..
They did bring guys like foote, harrison, and randle el back after leaving in ufa... but no one on a high end deal iirc...

I trust the FO to make the right decision.
It's not like they'll give a 3 year contract to an underperformer .

wait...what?

I could see a lot of options there. I also see some high draft picks going DL in 2025, like a 1-2 and a 4th later. If they are going to keep a 3-4 D then f---g run it like it's designed, with a dominant NT. Tomlin has NEVER grasped the concept.

Everyone should just give up on the NT concept because they've ignored finding that type of player throughout Tomlin's entire tenure. I think the only way that changes is if Khan/Weidl want that type of player on the roster. Other priorities could be a CB or WR as well. However, if Pickens shows he can put it all together and Wilson flashes potential plus if Jackson locks down the CB2 role, the Steelers can really focus on the DL.

Yea, the odds of all of that happening are slim. If we are lucky, maybe 1 of them happens. But I'm pretty sure we are looking at needing high picks in the Dl, WR and CB.

Not quite the scenario you put out there, but Landry ******* Jones...The experiment that just wouldn't stop. It took the Steelers five long years to finally release him and it took the Jaguars only 19 days and the Raiders less than 2 months to cut his sorry ***. To make matters WORSE, the Steelers reached out to the XFL and tried to resign him when Ben went down in 2020. Did Landry live on his knees in the Steelers front office? bajesus!

Are Rudolph, Landry Jones and Maddox even different people? They all morph into the same player in my mind.

Jones never had any great contract. He had his rookie year deal then signed a two year two million dollar deal to be tge backup and got cut after one year...
dont get me wrong, Laundry was the least ready qb his rookie season ive ever seen... people bitching about Pickett and Rudolph should have had to go back and watch him in camp and preseason that first year... they spent years developing him , gave him a shot, then cut him... not the string it out buddy buddy thing people ***** about.., every fanbase ******* about guys the team drafts then gives too many chances... thats not the same as holding onto stars way past their expiration date ...

If someone wants to ***** about not cutting every draft pick that isnt a superstar by year 3, fine... we do that..

If the want to say we favor the pedigree of draft picks over udfa types .. yep we (and virtually everyone else) do that..

if they want to ***** about our recent trend of occasionally recycling an older familiar player that flamed out elsewhere... yep we have lots of examples of that

if the want to complain that we recycle a lot of other teams failed high draft picks hoping to salvage them... yep we do that...

But hanging on to aged out vets? I dont see that... Timmons was buds with Tomlin and his first ever pick... we showed him the door... Troy and Hines were iconic legends... both were told they werent getting retained...

The closest you get is Ben staying at a reduced price.. and even he said he had opportunities to play elsewhere had he wanted... they told him they were moving on before he wanted to quit...

So of they hold on to Cam at market price until the wheels fall off... that probably is the first example.. I dont think its epidemic

Ben and Bettis got retirement tours. As you mentioned, a couple called it quits after the Steelers told them they were done and the team was right. Cam has zero leverage with the Steelers. If he wants to come back, it'll have to be at the terms the Steelers offer.

They signed Bettis to that big long term contract when he was 29, but his last two seasons he took under 2 million per season so he wouldnt get cut...

Also never sign a 29 rb to anything expensive lol

The "Tuitt situation." That mess has fallen under most fans' radar. Here was a player who "couldn't play" because of "personal" reasons. It started off as an injury but then blossomed into a "mental condition" from a death in the family. We all should have empathy for a player with a death in the family, but for how long exactly? It's not just that Tuittt was getting paid and not playing but it was the attitude Tomlin took in defending it. He would raise his voice in an authoritative manner, excusing Tuitt's absence in a manner of a "how dare you even ask?" about it. Tuitt gained an entire year of pay for not even trying to play. Hey, I get if you don't feel up for playing, but why should you be paid an entire year after the event? And then for the head coach to act in a "how dare you even ask" about said player's availability is beyond below the line.

Really why do you care that he got paid? It didn't stop the Steelers from running their franchise. Shazier was paid. Do you have an issue with that? I believe they even resigned him. They let him rehab under their dime. There are plenty of things to be critical of the Steelers but empathy is not one that is needed to be tread on. Shame on you. There needs to be more entities that share the same values as the Steelers when one is down on issues outside of football itself. I have been critical of the Rooney's of late. This is not one area that I see that needs criticized. I give props to the organization for helping a player(s) part of the organization when needed.

Oh, I don't know, maybe because there is this things called a "salary cap" which his huge salary impacted and cut into allowing us to sign a player who would actually play for his pay, something like that. But nevermind that, Tomlin will berate anyone even asking about Tuitt's condition, how dare they?

I will say this again because well it is true. The two worst posters on this site lack empathy for anyone . They either are great at flaming coaches, posters, anything to pump their opinion up that they pass off as fact.

Those types never get roses and candy from me. Not even a random piece of bacon.😁
