Wonder what Rooney will say / do

If the unthinkable happens and we get knocked out in the first round it most likely will be business as usual at Steelerland. Excuses will be made, words of encouragement will echo through the nation from Art. Words that changes need to occur like improvements in the running game will come from Art’s lips. More excuses of injuries, we had a young OL.
Those that think major changes should occur will never never speak those words for fear of retribution, so it will be like every other ending season. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Nothing will change and we’ll all feel unsatisfied well most of us will then we’ll look forward to FA and the draft. Sorry boys, that’s how I see it.

Unthinkable?

We optimists could say it was unthinkable when we were 10-3. Now not so much.😔

Sure! We have to at least believe this group can win one stinking playoff game this season.
It’s ******* sad it’s come to this stage of the game where we have to be satisfied to win one stinking playoff game if we can even do that.
I understand that and I hope somehow, we run the playoff table and hoist #7 but, losing first round isn't unthinkable. In fact, it's very thinkable 🤔

Not the group that played yesterday imo.
We need to get 100% healthy, then yeah, we have a shot👍

With how this team is playing losing every game remaining is a very good possibility..will it cause any changes ? Highly doubtful as we have once again achieved the new Steelers standard

The reason I used that word was to emphasize the point that this season could end up like so many previous ones in light of such high hopes and the emphasis was win a playoff game so to to not achieve that is unthinkable.
From the owner to the HC to the QB and players it was get to and win in the playoffs so now to contemplate losing in round one AGAIN thats unthinkable. Oh well! We shall see!

You guys are getting ahead of yourself. Tomlin is experiencing another late season meltdown. We won't win a playoff game.

Nobody will get fired. Tomlin is second highest paid HC. We will hear jabberwocky talk. Lots of hot air. Same Tomlin bs year after year.

After yet another playoff debacle, I can all but guarantee that Steelers fans will hear the following:
  • "We need to do better so we're going back to the lab." The same lab that has produced a combination of Frankenstein's monster and COVID but anyhoo ...
  • "We will focus on improving the running game." Just like the last 5 years of focus on improving the running game so there's that.
  • "Our goal is to win a championship." Meaning the "never had a losing season trophy," but hey, it's one type of championship, right?
  • "We are not satisfied with how the season turned out." Wait, re-runs again? Haven't we seen this for 16 straight years?
  • "The team has to make more splash plays." Oh, they make a TON of splash plays, and I mean Rosie O'Donnell belly-flop splash, but those involved watching the other teams complete another zillion passes to receivers wide open in the middle of the field.
The same coaches will be back, very likely without the QB depth 2024 saw, and the results are as predictable as the sun rising in the East and Mike Tomlin getting lauded as a great coach for "never having a losing season."

A few years ago I recall making the claim that we had 3 or 4 legitimate players that we could build upon, Boswell being one of them. We have a built a pretty decent foundation where we have only a couple of positions we need to fill and then it's depth that's needed. Yesterday exposed that. We've come a long way. The season could definitely end the same as the past several years but this time it feels different to me.

I know a lot of people have been laying in the weeds since the beginning of the season. Glad you can get it out of your system because I have a feeling your going to have to contain yourselves for a while after this season. But then again I'm sure you'll find a way because I don't think there's any point you wouldn't complain about Rooney or Tomlin if we don't win the Super Bowl.

Agree with your points Steeltime. It’s sad that this franchise has settled for such mediocre results year after year.
Non losing seasons seem to be enough now for Art and his son but like many here I’m sick of it.
I’m at a loss since we all know nothing will change.

Fire Tomlin

Yup…

Grab a legitimate franchise QB
An explosive RB
A 2nd WR
Some OL depth- maybe a starting OT
A solid DE
A starting CB
Some depth at safety
And a coach with a brain and we’re set

Almost there, shouldn’t take but 2-3 more seasons to fill those holes…only trouble is the holes that open by players departing in those next 2-3 seasons will need to be addressed too.

Hidden in there is that you actually have a feeling they’re gonna make a SB run??? Lmao, pass that loud cuz you must have some powerful stuff you’re smoking over there.

On June 10th, 2024 Mike Tomlin signed a three year contract extension….
Yep....we know he isn't going anywhere. It is why we were hoping for a prove it type season this year. Not the Rooney way though. They like handing out contract extensions so the HC isn't going into a lame duck season.

My guess.. nothing will change
Deuce looks at a winning record, team is in the playoffs, every home game is a sellout since 1973, and he has The Greatest Coach In The History Of Football Who's Never Had A Losing Season and thinks everything is great.

Since the Steelers aren't playing, I'm just sitting here watching the Bungles and Stains @ 6-8, 3-11 records respectively. It's gotta suck to be either of those teams and their fans right now with those pitiful records.

It's disappointing the Steelers are banged up right now at this point in the season. A few weeks ago I thought a win against KC was possible/probable, and right now I don't think a win against the Bungles is possible. Burrow is good and the Bungle team looks to still be playing as if it mattered.

I hope the Steelers play the next two the same way.
