5 nationally televised primetime games?? Have mercy that's a lot and it could be even more if they get flexed. Even so, I will never drop the Sunday Ticket....I just have to see every game from the comfort of my home.

Dropped it a couple three years ago, those greedy assed owners have gotten all they are going to from me.

I just dropped Direct TV this year. Tired of overpaying. Anyone know of any good websites to watch games out of Pittsburgh area?

I got tired of the storms taking out the signal, tired of cbs deciding to broadcast the game at the last min or changing to it during the game and then needing to go from one to the other. The price is high and the service is crappy. I have had more than 6 of those damn boxes fail (receivers) and then had to wait for a considerable time for hughes to get me a replacement. The only thing I watch on the tube now are Steelers games and movies I play on my Blueray player or stream from the computer. The broadcast industry is really going down hill as far as I'm concerned.

Wouldnt drop Sunday Ticket for nothing....nothing more enjoyable than watching my Steelers every Sunday and flipping over and watching all the other games. I'm in pure man heaven on Sunday afternnons from Sept to Dec.

We have 5 nationally televised games every year.. .

My problem with the sunday ticket is when the early game goes into ot and runs into the late game they show the ot game and if it is a local team it is blacked out. This happened a few times last year and I was pissed the one time I missed almost the 1st quarter of the Jet/Steeler game. Other then that if you call and complain about the price they will give you some money off and it is not a bad deal, I think I paid like $100 last year and got 3 months free of Showtime.

EVERY game is on the 'net free, if you know where to look and use a little sense.

I am going to call DirecTV and threaten to cancel the Ticket this year. And this time I will mean it. I'm going to tell them I just can't afford it. My bill is over $100 every month even without the Ticket charge and I don't have any premium channels. It's highway robbery. They'll either offer me a better deal or lose a Ticket customer.

The Sunday ticket is right up there with the energy service in my home. It is a necessity

I'm pretty much in this category but I too have some issues. When they broadcast on a local channel, I get no service from DTV..even though I'm payin thru the nose for it. The overtime on the early game delays suck, and being retired, on a fixed income doesn't help when the NFL package bills come due.

If I knew for sure where and how to stream the games, it would be different but I'm just an old guy out in the woods, with limited IT skills, that likes his Steeler football....so I'll continue to pay and like it.

I'm hoping they'll do a deal similar to last year, where they have a Special Edition Madden game for $100 that includes a code for the online streaming Sunday Ticket service. Even if I throw the game disc in the trash, $100 is a lot cheaper than the $350 they normally charge for the streaming option without DTV.

The first three games will be televised here.

I'm thinking I'll cancel and then look at picking it up around week four at a discount.

In my market (South Florida), I think around 10 games last year ended up being televised between national and local markets. I think it was between 8-10 games the previous year. It's not a stretch to think the same thing will happen this year too. That's why it's hard to justify the Ticket for 6-8 games. Over 16 games, $20-25 per game is an easy pill to swallow because I would easily spend that much at a sports bar watching the game. Over 6 games, it's more like $60 per game.

I'm pretty technically savvy and could stream the games from less-than-kosher sources, but in my experience, the quality sucks or the feed is subject to dropping out, often right at the end of the game when the NFL has finally found the source and shut them down. I hate watching 80% of a game and then frantically trying to find another feed.

Sometimes you get rid of it to avoid the kind of people it attracts...

I agree 100%

I rarely have issues with loss of signal with DirecTV. When I do, it's usually storming so bad that I shouldn't have the TV on to begin with. I've never had any problems with support from them either. Usually if I have an issue with something it's quickly resolved and I often get something in return for free. Where we live there is only one ISP and they suck. Yep, they have a monopoly in the area (I thought that was illegal). The internet goes down or is slow constantly. Typing out this post is a prime example. It's taken me 10 minutes to do so, and it's not the cpu. There's no way I could watch Steeler games via internet.

I'd love the ticket but unfortunately my apartment doesn't face southward enough

But I have my ways..

The steelers having 5 national games means I get MORE out of the ticket because it means there 5 weeks where I can click around to any game. On weeks the steelers play at 1, those are the weeks where I don't get much value because I watch the whole steeler game and then at 4 there is usually only 3 or 4 games and usually it's one good game and 2 crap games.

I think the NFL tries to artificially create a highly rated 4 PM game by overloading 1 pm starts. They usually schedule a really good game at 4 and then the only other 4 pm games are west coast games that must be 4 pm start.

I could be wrong but it seems like years ago there used to be a lot more 4 pm games. There's always more 1 pm but it used to be like 1 or 2 more. Now you're lucky if there are 4 games at 4.

week 1 this year has 10 games at 1 and just 2 at 4. At 4 they have SF vs Dallas and Carolina vs Tampa. Of course they will get a big rating on the SF game. It will be the only game for like 95% of the country and they put a ****** game opposite it for people with Sunday Ticket.

I look forward to going out on Sunday morning and watching the game in a bar. It's fun. However, given the choice I stay at home. Just hate DTV so I won't give them anymore money.

I believe that CBS has the rights to the Thursday night games
