This game was a highlight for AB in a number of ways. Not only did he execute a perfectly timed hand check at the goal line to give him a window to catch a perfectly thrown ball for a 35yd TD, but it also set up the next time they were down there, same spot, and the defender ran him over on a slightly overthrown ball, because he chose to slow up and get the call. We received a holding penalty that should have been PI with the ball in the air. To me AB is now know as THE FINISHER. It was stated in training camp, he would finish every play by running for a TD in camp. It shows on the football field. He looks to run after the catch and runs hard with the ball.
AB is and always has been a pro-bowl caliber return man. Say what you want about using a great player as your punt returner, but fear of injury didn't slow down HOFers like Darrel Green, Rod Woodson, and Dion Sanders from returning punts late into their careers. He is a weapon, and he should be utilized. I know he wants to be on the field, and he wants to make plays. Great to see him make that highlight real vs the punter, that will be talked about for years! Finish him FINISHER!!
Want to know one of the most amazing things about AB? He cares about blocking as much as he does about receiving. I don't know if Ward instilled that in him or not, but he exemplified incredible desire to help the team win by coming in at the end of Bell's long TD run to clear out the last 2 guys giving Bell a path to the end zone. That block was as good as any highlight real catch, and it's a play that most pro-bowl caliber receivers aren't willing to make. Way to FINISH the block FINISHER!
AB is as complete a football player as you will see in this league, and is quickly becoming my favorite player to watch and root for. He became a probowl receiver last year with Sanders and Cotchery. This year, we're even younger and he looked fantastic with Wheaton and JB, 2 second year players who had more catches and yardage in this game than they did all last year! AB is a number 1, and we're lucky as hell to have a player like him!
I'm excited for Wheaton. He looked poised and made the 2 biggest catches in a row at the end of the game to seal the win. That will give him a lot of confidence! JB also did a great job and will be a larger replacement for Cotchery as our possession receiver. I'm sure Moore can do it too, but I'm fine with JB as well.
