College Football Week 14

Putting this one up early due to Thanksgiving and I probably won't be around.

Playoff picture had some major shifts last week. Indiana lost to Ohio State and seemed to be out. Then Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas A&M all lost to unranked teams for loss #3 and Indiana was back in the playoffs.

Saturday
Maryland at 4 Penn State Saturday 3:30 BTN PSU -25
Penn State can still make the Big 1 Title game is they beat Maryland, Indiana beats Purdue and Ohio State loses to Michigan. OSU plays at noon so Penn State will know that outcome before thei game. Unlikely Michigan wins but strange things can happen in a rivalry game.

Maryland has lost 4 in a row and will not get a bowl this year. This game is sometimes chippy as so many of the players were recruited by both schools. Maryland usually comes out fired up then falls beind and quits.

Penn State just needs to not implode and hosting a playoff game is certain.

FRIDAY

Oregon State at 11 Boise State 12:00 FOX BSU -19

RB Ashton Jeanty already has over 2062 yards rushing. That's 570 more yards than #2 RB Kaleb Johnson of Iowa. He should clearly win the Heisman. Unless you think that total snaps played is super impressive.Boise has a spot in the Mountain West Championship but can't afford a 2nd loss or they're probably out of the playoff.

Oklahoma State at 25 Colorado 12:00 ABC Col -16.5
Oklahoma State is winless in conference and has nothing to play for. Colorado still has a chance to make the Big 12 title game. They'll probablu use this game to pad stats.

Miss State at 14 Ole Miss 3:30 ABC Miss -26
The Egg Bowl. Ole Miss coming off loss 3 to unranked Florida. They should be out of playoff contention but they are still in the running to be the 3 loss SEC team that gets shoehorned into the playoffs.

Georgia Tech at 7 Georgia 7:30 ABC UGA -19.5
appears to be a blowout but Georgia even found a way to let UMass play close to them in the 1st half last week, so who knows. UGA will go to the SEC Championship with a win.

SATURDAY

Michigan at 2 Ohio State 12:00 FOX OSU -21

"The Game" is Harvard vs Yale. This is just Michigan vs Ohio State. Michigan can't throw the ball and is having a rough season. It would make their whole season a success if they could knock Ohio State out of the Big 10 Championship. OSU is likely still in the playoff even if they somehow lose. I can't see any way Michigan wins this. Although Jim Harbaugh did play Thursday and may have free time to show up and steal signals. Perhaps he's crawling through an air duct right now.

8 Tennessee at Vanderbilt 12:00 ABC Tenn -10.5
Tenn is all but assured a playoff spot unless they lose this one. They can also get a spot in the SEC championship if Georgia loses.

15 South Carolina at 12 Clemson 12:00 ESPN Clem -2.5
the narrative is that if SC wins this, they're in the playoffs. Bama and Ole Miss fans need to root against SC because they will absolutely jump both of them for a playoff spot if they beat Clemson.

5 Notre Dame at USC 3:30 CBS ND -7.5

Lincoln Riley's job may be on the line. A win in this game could buy him another year. Notre Dame has looked dominant lately but their best opponent has been Army. USC at least has athletes and can throw the ball. If Notre Dame loses this game, it's possible they could get left out of the playoff due to a weak schedule and losses to 2 unranked teams.

6 Miami at Syracuse 3:30 ESPN Mia -11
Miami needs this one to get into the ACC Championship and a shot at the playoff. They likely miss out on both with a loss.

Auburn at 13 Alabama 3:30 ABC Ala -11.5

The Iron Bowl. Auburn wants to win to screw over a rival and avoid a losing season. Bama needs to win to keep playoff hopes alive. If Bama loses, it will be a tough offseason for coach Deboer. Could it impact recruiting?

16 ARizona State at Arizona 3:30 FOX ASU -8.5
You ever been ****** on a houseboat? ASU came from out of mowhere to have a good playoff resume. They just need to beat Arizona and get to the Big 12 Champ game. There are rumors that the Big 12 champ could get left out or at least not get a top 4 seed.

Purdue at 10 Indiana 7:00 Ind -29
Purdue is one of the worst teams in the country. Indiana just needs to take care of business and go to the playoffs.

3 Texas at 20 Texas A&M 7:30 ABC Tex -5.5
If Texas loses, all hell could break lose in the SEC standings. TAM is always up and down. Texas got jumped by Georgia because it was Texas's first real competitive game. They are more battle tested now, but A&M is desperate and can get in the playoffs with a win and then a win in the SEC championship.

24 Kansas State at 19 Iowa State 7:30 FOX ISU -2.5
Iowa State still playing for a spot in the Big 12 title game and a shot at the playoffs. Must win for them

Pitt at Boston College 3:00 The CW BC -5.5
After a 7-0 start, Pitt dropped 4 in a row, including two blowouts. Despite the skid, an 8-win season would be impressive given how bad they were last year. Boston College looks to finish strong on senior day.

Current playoff bracket:

1. Oregon - BYE
2. Texas - BYE
3. Miami - BYE
4. Boise State - BYE

5. Ohio State vs. 12. Arizona State
6. Penn State vs. 11. Indiana
7. Notre Dame vs. 10. SMU
8. Georgia vs. 9. Tennessee

12. Clemson - first team out
13. Alabama
14. Arizona State - 5th highest-ranked conference champ

Will the committee (correctly) play conference opponents against each other in the first round? It'd be very easy to swap around Tennessee, SMU, and Indiana, but in reality those seeds all feel correct.

Also, they should really re-seed after the first round like the NFL does. Earning the top seed should also mean having the easiest pathway to the title. Ohio State is the second best team, but has the fifth seed because they aren't the conference champs in the current scenario. That is much tougher than if Indiana upset Penn State.

ACC
Assuming Miami and SMU both make the ACC championship game, the loser has a strong enough resume to make the playoffs, IMO. Clemson will get a huge resume boost with a win over South Carolina. If it's not close, they'll probably try to run up the score to jump Indiana.

Big 10
I'd expect an Oregon-Ohio State rematch. The winner will almost certainly get the top seed. Indiana is probably at risk to being jumped by Clemson or an SEC team.

Big 12
This is a bizarre conference this year. You know the committee and networks will be rooting for Colorado to find a way to make and win the conference championship.

SEC
The conference that was suppose to dominate the playoffs self cannibalized. They have three teams in and chaos could ensue if A&M beats Texas. South Carolina could make some noise with a big win over Clemson. Does Georgia keep a playoff spot with a third loss if they lose to Texas in the SEC championship game?

Thank you SIR

Lol at your pathetic little shot at the tOSU-Michigan rivalry, are you really THAT jealous?? Clearly, absolutely no one gives a toss about harvard vs yale, that rivalry stopped being noteworthy 80+ years ago.

Absolutely zero percent chance USC comes anywhere close to upsetting Notre Dame this weekend. I'll call it now, Domers win by at least 28

WhoAley shizzle, ND -7.5 now giving up 28. You know more about college football than me but, -28 is a lot to give……

How many houses have you put on the game at -7.5 ??? Just curious

Yeah. The trojans are not a premier team recently.

As for my alma mater. Those nerds at tech are looking to be on the rise. I do not see a blowout

Main House, Bird House, Shlitt House…………… Check

That’s an understatement so far. Georgia fans must be in a bit of shock. 6 minutes to go in the 3rd ….lots of time left.

Brent Key has turned GT around. They’re gonna be tough.

UGA has had a lot of issues this season.
This game has shown all the flaws this team has dealt with. Bad tackling on defense and dropped passes on offense

Again, clock management. WTF? GT :07 and 2 TOs remaining. Ya think maybe you should’ve burned one or both earlier?

Holy ****! This GA/GA Tech game is a classic!

Holy **** that Georgia vs Georgia Tech game was probably one of the greatest I've seen in a long time.

That was like an entire season of nervous wreck down to the wire Steeler games all wrapped up in one. Just wow. Glad I watched the whole thing.
