Emotional Investment

Has the window closed on any hope for a SB in the Ben Roethlisberger era?

He may be able to pull one out with BA in Horridzona over the next few years....

not one player can do it alone regardless of how great he is. To answer your question, if changes aren't made I would say that is very possible. When you get a window of opportunity you have to embrace it. We are just wasting it with a bad defense and a head coach that is meaner at the podium than he is in the locker room apparently.

Yes but then the SB window closed for Dan Marino the day he was drafted.

You're lucky I like you or I would ding you with negative karma for that. :p

Really wish I could think like this.

I say **** this league and screw this team all the time, yet my dumbass will be watching again next week.
It'll happen for you too, man. It was a cumulative effect for me, with the final nail in the coffin being the way the flags fly with such ridiculous frequency.

Speaking of emotional investment, Pittsburgh sports radio is melting down
WDVE Steelers post game with Charlie Batch fired up.

Absolutely.

Could be none of us ever sees another championship in our lifetime, either. So, as sports fans, we need to be thankful for what we have because we are truly blessed. 6 Super Bowl, 2 world series, and 3 Stanley Cups in my lifetime. Everything else is gravy.

Of course it's emotional investment. Why else would you be on this board? Are you doing research for your thesis? We've all bee drawn in at a young age and that typically stays with you for most of your life.

I've forced myself to become more detached over the past few years. I'm older and the game just doesn't mean that much to me anymore, and as we all know...carrying that anger until the next week isn't healthy.

Nothing will change as long as we continue with the poor leadership of this team. I've said in numerous posts that it will get worse before we start to see any hope. In order to cut ties with this imposter, we have to have a couple losing seasons here in 14 and 15 and I think only then will Rooney feel its justified to end the fiasco. That way he will have given him four seasons since the last playoff appearance to correct things and he failed.

My worry is that they will do something stupid like try and move Ben for picks in an attempt to add high draft picks, or Ben just says **** this, there's no hope here and I want a chance for another super bowl.
You don't think with Arizona and their young talented team with BA that wouldn't be enticing for Ben? Stranger things have happened. Who would have thought Manning would end up somewhere other than Indy.

"...locker room was like a morgue, most players cleared out quick with out speaking to media..."

Brett Keisel to his credit stuck around to answer questions.

I got what I wanted in 2005. I've seen all the SB but I was so young that I couldn't really enjoy them. When we won in 05' I was and am content. 08' was just icing on the cake for me. I lived through the 80s and the heartbreak of the Larry "where the hell did this ball come from" Brown SB. I love my Steelers but I realize that I've seen 2 SB wins which is more than a lot of fans see in their life time.

actually a great post, I might need to see a doctor soon

Glad to see Willie Gay regained his old form.... Maybe the worst secondary in the league... Can't imagine how bad you'd have to be than to be worse than what we saw today.

That sums up the problem. The team has young players who want the praise but when the going gets tough, they ***** up.

WDVE played a few more interviews, so I'll give credit too James Harrison and William Gay for sticking around

There is a lot of other much more important stuff to worry about to waste your time & energy getting all worked up over football. When the Steelers start to get you down, try focusing on Islam, Ebola, Penis size, etc.

I saw soldiers in the airport leaving the day after the Steelers lost to Green Bay in the Super Bowl. That is the day that I stopped worrying so much about wins and losses.
