For years the majority of this board has bitched about the Tomlin "speak" especially the "we don't live in our fears." I was one of them. well guess what today he actually didn't live in his fears. That play could have also payed off big if the ball would have been caught.

This is the kind of plays that keep teams guessing and win ball games. It was exciting today and gave me hope that we can win the close games at the end. I would't have cared if he went for it on the last 4th down even if we wouldn't have made it and lost I personally would have still been OK with it.

I love the play calling today, and hope he keeps his foot on the gas... Way to go Coach T.

I didn't really have a problem with it, but I can see both sides. The dude was wide effing open, and even seemed to be crouching down trying to hide. They must have seen something on film and been ready for it.

I really liked us running on first down into 8 or 9 in the box almost on every single first down run. Those zero... 1 and 2 yard runs ad up eventually.

When a professional drops a ball like that even a DB. You cannot blame coaching. They filmed it. Got their look. Everything perfect. He dropped. Yiu might not like Sutton on the outside but it's him or maybe Trice if Jackson is out. Pierre is terrible. Was PI on last Washington drive. He's brutal.

I 100% disagree with the fake punt call. Mostly because we were on our 15. It’s one thing to try that on our 35-45 yard line. On our 15 is totally different. We also had all the momentum going for us. I feel that fake punt killed our momentum for the rest of the half. Momentum is huge in this game.
But hey….we’re all different. A call I would not have made.
Cheers.

I was hoping they'd look at that during the bye. Every 1st down from the 20 in is a run. I'm not saying pass all the time, but mix it in a bit.

Can't argue that the play was there....but if say it was around mid field no one would have questioned the call. We get the catch we still have another 50 to 60 yards to go for points. If we miss as we did...we saw the results. Could have saved that in our back pocket for a bit later in the game if it came up.

If he catches that clean it might have been a 50 yard play. He was standing alone by 10 yards. I understand timing but it was there.
Might have been better wit Skoronek

The coaches scouted a team, saw something and tried to exploit a weakness.
In the end a player failed.

Can’t fault the coaches for scouting properly and putting the players on a good formation to execute and can’t fault the coaches for trusting their players to execute.

I liked it and it’s the type of play that will add hidden yards on future punts as teams likely won’t cheat a guy out of formation for awhile.

Kudos to Mike for living up to his mantra and it not being just lip service, players play harder for a coach they believe and a coach that believes in them.

That play has toms of hidden values moving forward imho. Shows maybe even Mike is getting hungry.

Completely agree, even if Pierre catches it, you are where? Midfield? Big ******* deal, rather punt it
Other side of that coin is if they do punt Commandos are at mid field and likely score anyways, at a minimum a FG but the way the D was looking probably just cost the Commandos a little TOP by knocking 35-45 yards of that drive due to lost field position.

If Pierre catches it we have huge momentum and that is a helluva drug…other side of the momentum coin is we gave them some.

In the end you win some and lose some, the play was there and Pierre sucked out loud.

Not at that spot, at that point of the game, with a 7 point lead is all I am saying.

Never.
I disagree. Like @warriors42 said and I've made my opinion known in @Chicoman and @CoolieMan's thread - that play put the entire league on notice. If Killebrew gets more on the ball it's a completion and Pierre absolutely gets the 1st down and the Commanders would have been reeling early. Since it was the first quarter and we were up by 7 - I found no fault in the play call. The muffed punt by the Commanders negates the play anyway...

I think it’s absurd to disagree based on the circumstances. Anything can happen. The punt could be blocked, shanked or returned for a TD but if they see something that should be easy pickings, don’t try to exploit it, play it (mostly) safe and punt it away. Why?

The commas where struggling on O, the play gave them momentum

I think the thing I like the most was there was no way in hell ANYONE including everyone on this board expected a Tomlin coached team to call that play. I think it was a brilliant play call and if Pierre catches that ball most everyone else would have said it was a great call because this is not a call anyone on planet earth would have expected from this team.

And the most dangerous poker players at the table is an unpredictable one,
Tomlin has been predictable AF in the past and content to win $20 and sit on it (9-8, 10-7)

Maybe he’s actually ready to shove his chips all
In, take some risks and win a big pot instead of counting his money while he’s sitting at the table like the last several years.

Exactly.
