To respond to your post Tibs...I just want the wall done. Everyone has to work together to make that happen and it hasn’t happened yet. If you are for the wall, then you must admit that the majority of liberals are for allowing illegal immigrants to freely flow into the country “ because most American’s parents / grandparents, etc came here as immigrants”. My main point of contention with Trump - and the alt right - is the dehumanization of immigrants and refugees. It has to stop. Vilifying, generalizing, grouping everyone together into a messy gob of murderers, rapists, drug smugglers, gangsters, etc. is simply incorrect and immoral. In my view, that is what the current backlash is about, as opposed to anyone wanting open borders and the free-flow of migrants into the country. Nobody wants that, at least nobody with half a brain.

But instead of presenting a calm, rational border reinforcement plan that people can get behind, all we hear from Trump is the demonizing of foreigners, asylum seekers and immigrants. A scoffing at the true nature of asylum seekers and dismissing the real humanitarian crisis involved with detaining families, separating women and children, etc.

I'm all for stricter border control and having an orderly immigration system. I'm all for cracking down on gangs, criminals and drug smugglers. But let's forget we're America, the beacon of democracy & the richest and most powerful country on earth. Why is our President behaving like the despot leader of a third world country? Why are his supporters and pundits like Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon frothing at the mouth, spewing lies and hatred? The situation is bad enough, why throw oil on the fire with this type of rhetoric?

When Trump and his backers behave this way, it leaves little choice for those who oppose him on moral grounds. When I say he's destroying America, this is what I'm referring to. He's destroying the idea of America, the land of freedom, entrepreneur spirit, the idea that the little guy has a chance. Regardless of race, religion or where somebody comes from. That's what brought our fathers and forefathers to this great land. We can never lose sight of that, regardless what racists like Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon are whispering in Trump's ear. And regardless of the fact Trump himself espouses these same views. Just listen to him.

So to rehash, those that oppose Trump on immigration are 1. not against strict border control, 2. do not support open borders, 3. don't want a free-flow of migrants and criminals in the country, 4. are most likely just looking for decent, adult behavior from the leader of the country. And Trump is failing at that miserably.

I agree you can’t go up everyone together. However, any reasonable person understands that there will be serious criminals coming here...there will be people who come here to take advantage of the social programs offered. Not all fall into this category, but some...perhaps a majority, who knows.
I wish Trump could be Presidential 100%of the time also, but his opposition should still hate. President Trump’s initiatives are to put America first, which hasn’t happened with previous administrations. While his approach is far from perfect, he produces results.

The simple fact is that most Americans want a brash, tough, unsympathetic leader. An opposing personality related to the past couple generations.

The same policies, human issues, etc that were mostly ignored by all are now causing social unrest because people like you foment hatred towards Trump and the people who support him.

Just think about that. Same immigration policy, action, pictures under two presidents --- and the people who now "care" were ok with it then. How does that ever make sense?

This means that those now protesting are just awakened now to what is right or wrong. Those same protestors were not moved to act under the same laws and policies when Obama was POTUS.

So either Trump is better for quickly evolving human rights issues, or people were somehow able to overlook those same issues under Obama.

Human rights abuses under Obama were glossed over or not dealt with.

IMO, we may all be correct in our first assessments of illegal border crossings. But, I also believe we have to look at where the majority of these illegals are coming from. I saw that many are coming from Honduras, so I decided to review what is going on in Honduras. I believe we can all agree that many of the Latin American countries, such as Honduras, have a lot of political corruption as well as gangs and ensuing gang violence.

so why are these people not just fleeing to Mexico?

as we've seen over the past 14 pages, Mexico does have good people, but the Mexican government (as corrupt as they are) doesn't want these people there. They give pamphlets to those seeking ti immigrate here on how to get here and stay here. This is verified by the stark increase of Asylum seekers. Get to the border, request asylum and you have a better chance of staying here. This correlates also to the number of illegals being arrested/deported. More asylum seekers, less illegal deportations and arrests. Obviously this overwhelms the entry points, which in turn demands we set up temporary facilities while we process these people to determine who they are.

I also believe we can agree that some of our military actions have been at/for the benefit of American companies. Though I don't believe we can on one hand blame American companies, then on the other hand declare that we need to help develop these countries. That's just hypocritical. I also don't believe we can say that we shouldn't be involved in how our neighboring countries govern, then complain about how these countries are verifiable **** holes for how the people there live and demand something be done.

Thus, the problem overlaps. What can be done? We send aid to countries, but that doesn't always get to the people there due to corruption. We can't send in military to overthrow governments, as it creates a vacuum and produces even more hate for our country. We CAN enforce our border laws, though. We should.

Should we assist in developing other countries to curb migration? How do we deal with gang problems in other countries when we can't and don't have a solution for gangs in our own country?

The situation is so complex in that it involves our own corporations and companies seeking to increase their bottom line. Which causes these people to flee their own country and in a plot twist, seek to come here. Given all this, instead of pointing fingers at each other for another 15+ pages, how would YOU handle this?
