Boys, I realize this is not Steeler related but I have been watching a very entertaining series on Netflix, Last Chance U.
This series deals with young men mostly who have been expelled from their D1 Universities who were on football scholarships. Could have been bounced for academic reasons, discipline reasons, whatever but they lost their scholarships.
So they pretty much have to go the JUCCO path now to fix things and hope to get attracted to D1 scouts again.
The school is East Mississippi CC in a place called Scooba. MS. No joke, Scooba!
Follows the life of these young men as they try to get back on track.
I’m a football junkie like most of you here so if you have Netflix I would suggest you check it out.
It’s hard not to feel bad for these young kids. Most have just screwed up and made mistakes but they are very young guys and haven’t had a lot of structure with their lives. Good watch guys!

I had a student - I teach a GED program in a prison - who had a basketball scholarship from Univ of Wyo. He pissed it away being a passenger in a drive by shooting. He almost got out to try again, but he is the "shock collar" the guy who does the violent stuff for the gangs. So now, he has more charges and a longer sentence. He's the kind of guy we say is "a lifer by installments."

He and I got along very well. I'm no longer at that maximum facility, but I check in on him a lot. Sad story. I'm glad those young men on that show are still in the mix.

That’s so cool what you do to try and help these guys.

I believe that's the path that Antonio Brown took after he was unable to get into Florida State or Alcorn State for academic reasons. Spent a year with a technical prep school before eventually ending up at Central Michigan.
