Ya know, every time we have a really hot day in Ohio and the meteoroligists get all excited it seems like the all-time records always go back to when they started recording such things. Like late 1800's and early 1900's. And then, all the other stuff you posted. Makes me wonder if somebody, somewhere makes money off of this kinda crap. And then, we're at peak oil and all of sudden, the USA has probably the most oil in the ground in the world. But now, we can't access it and Russia plays a huge role in our supply - thus our current high gasoline prices.

Such an epic song IMO. I know most are put off by the "Oedipus" section (and rightly so), but the way it builds and incorporates different styles of music and the way the instruments eventually play off of one another is magic IMO. The line "desperately in need -- of some strangers hand -- in a desperate land" since I first heard it as a young teenager has always stuck with me.

That movie is also pretty polarizing. I've had to watch it several times to get a better grasp of what he was really going for (tough movie to watch but I'm a glutton for punishment), and I likely still don't have a clue. But there's a great YT channel I think that's called "Lessons From the Script" that breaks down the two Colonels and it's eye-opening what they delve into and come up with on them.

And the fanatical & brilliant screenwriter John Milius (who the Cohen brothers modeled Walter after in The Big Lebowski) came up with the classic "Charlie don't surf!" and "I love the smell of Napalm in the morning..." He was just about as crucial to that beautiful disaster of a movie as Coppola was.
