I laugh at these stupid stories about how a 17-year old is on his way to becoming an astronaut or pilot or doctor. Unless you have actually pursued one of those fields, or had a very close family member try to become an astronaut, pilot or doctor, you have NO idea how astonishingly difficult it is to enter those professions. The candidate needs to be basically a genius, top 1% in terms of intellect, as well as dedicated to community service, very successful in school, and with other accolades for extracurricular activities that do not involve smoking dope.
