College Football Week 12

Playoff rankings have begun but there are still way to many bog games left to get too worked up over the current seeding.

That hasn't stopped SEC fans from whining all week about them possibly not getting 6 to 8 teams in the playoff. They really hate Indiana now, demanding that they be eliminated from discussion if they lose to Ohio State next week.

Something else to watch this week is the new redshirt rule. You can play up to 4 games (not including postseason playoff or bowls) and still maintain the redshirt. For most teams they have 4 or fewer games left so you may see a lot of freshmen playing the rest of the way.

4 Penn State at Purdue 3:30 CBS PSU -28.5
Purdue sucks and Penn State should destroy them. Even if Penn State comes out flat, I can't see them losing this one. Last week Penn State got their WRs more involved in the passing game. They need more of that. They can beat Purude just running it, but if they want to advance in the playoffs they must improve their outside passing game.

Nick Singleton looked to have some of his burst back last week vs Washington but then he landed on his head after a tackle and did not return. It will be interesting to see of some redshirt RBs or WRs get some playing time.

Penn State just has to win their remaining games and they're in the playoff. They have a very slim shot at the Big 10 Championship. The tiebreakers are very complicated but PSU would lose a tiebreaker to Oregon, Ohio State, and Indiana, so the only way PSU gets in the Big 10 Title game is a bunch of upsets.

2 Ohio State at Northwestern 12:00 BTN OSU -28.5

Game likely won't be close. Just wanted to comment on all the Ohio State whining about having to play so many noon games this year. Does Ohio State have some kind of night game tradition I missed? Ohio State twitter fans seem to think the whole nation is thursting to see Ohio State in primetime.

3 Texas at Arkansas 12:00 ABC Tex -12

This is a pretty heated under the radar rivalry. I read an article about back in the 70s during game week, Texas oilmen basically shut down the gas supplies to Arkansas so there were people running on empty all over Arkansas. Texas should be win comfortably but if they have a weakness, it's that they can be outmuscled. Arkansas is physical and could give them a game.

Utah at 17 Colorado 12:00 FOX CO -11
Utah was the favorite to win the Big 12 but have so many injuries that they have a losing record and are just 1-5 in conference. Utah is coming off a controversial last second loss to BYU. WR Joe Horn may be banged up for Colorado. The big play WRs Horn and Hunter are pretty much all Colorado has going for them. If Horn is not himself then maybe Utah has a chance.

20 Clemson at Pitt 12:00 ESPN Clem -11.5
Pitt has lost 2 straight after their 7-0 start. Must win for both teams to stay alive for a spot in the ACC Championship. Last time they played was back in 2021 when Pitt won the ACC. Pitt has played Clemson tough. If Clemson loses they have no shot at the playoff and there could be some program changes.

Virginia at 8 Notre Dame 3:30 NBC ND -23.5
Virginia is coming off a win vs Pitt. They need another win to become bowl eligible. Yep, bowls are still a thing. They should play hard, but ND also has no margin for error for the playoff with their bad loss to NIU.

23 Missouri at 21 South Carolina 4:15 SEC Network SC -14
the battle of 2 teams i'm sick of hearing about. Mizz stinks and somehow they linger. Accoriding to SEC fans on twitter, South Carolina is one of the best teams in the country and MUST be in the playoffs with 3 losses.

1 Oregon at Wisconsin 7:30 NBC Ore -14
Oregon only has 2 games left, this one then a bye and finsh vs Washington. Wisconsin will bring the atmosphere at night but not a good QB. This is Wisconsin's 3rd game against a top 5 opponent this year (Bama, Penn State). They've had a tough year with injuries and shouldn't have a shot unless Oregon completely falls apart. Doubtful.

7 Tennessee at 12 Georgia 7:30 ABC UGA -9.5
Georgia is coming off the loss to Ole Miss. With 2 losses, they are now in must win territory for the playoff. The question is the health of Tenn QB Nico Iamaleava who was in concussion protocol. If he can't play, Tenn may not have a shot. Unless Carson Beck keeps throwing picks. If Georgia is ever going to flip the switch and play up to their ability, it will be this game.

I am still laughing at the tOSU "Whining" about not having night games or a night game "tradition". Who cares? The only B1G team fans that I have heard "whining" about a game not being played at night is those PSU fans whining about the game tOSU not being a night game and how that ruined their plans to have a cute little "white out".

Off topic from the above, Deion is doing a pretty damned good job at Colorado this year. Hunter hardly impacted their game against Utah as a receiver other than one awesome catch. Horn, Jr. didn't play. They spread the ball around to other receivers and their defense got after the Utah QB
