This is the last year of the 4 team playoff. Next year it expands to 12. Who will be the other 3 teams besides Penn State in the playoff?

I like your optimism, but PSU won't make a playoff. SEC gets 2 teams...an undefeated one and a one loss team, ACC will get a team, and OSU. Other options as well. Franklin can't beat OSU, especially with a new qb. Might not beat Michigan either.

The frustrating this about Penn State is they could legit be the 4th or 5th best team in the country and have 2 losses. Stupidity of Big 10 for putting their best teams in the same division so they beat each other up. Note how the top teams of the SEC seem to miss each other in regular season quite often.

That's no coincidence. That's because the SEC is run by competent people who do what's best for the conference. Big 10 is run by a bunch of Judge Smails' who want no gambling at bushwood.

If Penn State has 2 losses they aren't the 4th or 5th best team in the country.

Franklin will always be the one constant that keeps the Lions from beating OSU and winning the Big 10. Give him this year and next, then buy out his contract.

trade him to Pitt for Pat Narduzzi lol.
I always thought Narduzzi was more of a Penn State type of coach and Franklin seemed like more of a Pitt guy for whatever reason…. Lol

If Penn State has 2 losses they aren't the 4th or 5th best team in the country.

If they are 2 close losses to #2 and #3 ranked teams, then why not? They finished 7 last year with those 2 losses.

Even PSU fans will bash Franklin as not being able to win the big games if they lose both of those when in reality there's maybe 2 or 3 teams that can beat both OSU and Michigan.

PSU has a really good defense. One of the best OL in the country. Great RBs. Really good TEs. Good depth at WR. The question mark is whether they have that 1 scary guy. A guy like Godwin or Dotson or Hamler that the defense worried about. Drew Allar is the key though. He's a 5 star QB and if he plays like it then PSU has a legit shot at the playoff.

Frustrating thing is no top 10 team has a tougher road to the playoff.

Next week. The future Heisman QB, Carson Beck takes the field

Notre dame put a whoopin on Navy
It's because the service academies run the stupid flexbone triple option bullshit offenses that you use in pee wee football. I get that you're recruiting pool of athletes is limited, but you don't need to run an elementary offense. Sure, you're going to beat the San Jose State's of the world, maybe, but you aren't beating a team with a good defensive coordinator like Notre Dame

Georgia Tech used to run those weird offenses too. UGA has been dominating the series lol

I don't know....Air Force has gone 20-6 over the last two seasons and have beat #22 San Diego St plus Louisville and Baylor in their last two bowl games. No current Academy team is going to consistently beat a Notre Dame or Bama or Michigan but Air Force will beat those second tier running the Flex.

Idiot Franklin still hasn't name Allar the starter even though he apparently has been the better QB throughout training and got significant playing time last year. He is going to play games and end up losing not one of these two guys but both of them. Franklin is a moron.

The only thing Franklin can do is recruit. This guy had an offense of Barkley and Miles Sanders in the same backfield with McSorley, Gisecki, Chris Godwin, DeSean Hamilton and DeAndre Thompkins plus Connor McGovern (29 NFL started at Guard 3 years in the NFL) and still had 2 losses in the season.

Franklin would lose to Ohio State if you gave him the Kansas City Chiefs roster to play them.

That’s because no one can beat the U.S. Air Force..
Ta Da!

Relax. Bama hasn't named a starter either. Hasn't even released a depth chart.

I'm sure the team knows who's starting. Allar gets the starter reps in practice. It just hasn't been released publicly. Maybe they will lose a backup but that's how college football works now with NIL and easy transfers. You just have to keep recruiting them. They already have a 4 start QB committed for 24.

But Penn State did beat Ohio State that year and won the Big 10.

Ohio State was far ahead of every team but Bama, Clemson, and now Georgia. Aside from those 4 teams there was a huge talent deficit. Harbaugh was winless vs Ohio State until 2 years ago. It took him years to build up Michigan's depth (and for Urban Meyer to leave) so he could compete. Penn State is getting closer.
