Starting to get into the meat of conference play now. There are 7 undefeated teams that are playing against other ranked teams this week. This will be a big week to start to really set up the rankings. Let's get right to the game of the week.

10 Penn State at 4 Michigan 12:00 FOX Mich -7
While it is still unknown whether Jim Harbaugh killed 5 hookers, he will still be allowed to coach...for now. Michigan's defense is only allowing 11 pointe per game but they have played 4 teams ranked 90th or worse in scoring. Only Maryland was a decent offense and they scored 27. Maryland was really the only team that could pass that Michigan has played.

Penn State hasn't played any great offenses either but they have faced teams that can throw the ball. Michigan's defense is about pressure. They don't have the elite DEs like last year but they get good pressure as a team. Penn State's defense is about the coverage. They play very aggressive man coverage and lead the nation in Pass break ups by a large margin.

Michigan loves young QB JJ McCarthy but he's still mostly untested. So far the run game has worked, he's had time to throw and since their opponents haven't scored much, there was no need to do much in the passing game.

Both teams want to run the ball. Blake Corum runs well for a midget. Penn State is the first team Mich has faced that may be able to slow their run game. Penn State's run game has been much improved. Their OC has adjusted his approach (Matt Canada pay attention) and has schemed runs differently. It also helps to have 2 freshman stud RBs Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen. Singleton has gotten the attention on big plays but right now Allen is the more polished runner.

I really think this game can go either way. If Penn State can give Clifford time, I think plays can be made against an average Michigan secondary. McCarthy has not seen tight coverage like he will vs Penn State. McCarthy has only been pressured on 19% of dropbacks which is 7th best in the nation. He has been able to hold the ball a long time but Penn State has some good pass rushers that won't allow him to sit back there all day.

Michigan's OL is good but not great. If Penn State can slow that run game and force Mccarthy to throw more than Michigan would like then he might make some mistakes. So far he has been hesitant to throw into tight coverage.

19 Kansas at Oklahoma 12:00 ESPN2 Ok -8.5
How can Oklahoma be favored? Because Kansas Qn Jalon Daniels seems unlikely to play. Their bacup Jason Bean started 10 games last year so he has some experience. Kansas has had success with a tricky offensive scheme. Oklahoma's defense has busts all over the place. Still seems crazy Oklahoma is favored by so much with all their struggles.

Minnesota at 24 Illinois 12:00 BTN Minn -6.5
Just highlighting this one to show that Bielema has Illinois ranked after beating up on WIsconsin and getting their coach fired. Have to wonder if Beilema will be lured away to a bigger name team next year.

3 Alabama at 6 Tennessee 3:30 CBS Ala -8
i'd like to point out how ridiculous the polls are. Last week, with an injured Bryce Young, Alabama jumped up to #1. Not surprisingly they struggled a bit with a backup QB so now they drop to 3. Makes no sense at all. If you moved Bama to 1 last week, then shouldn't you still have them 1 since you obviously don't care about the QB situation?

Tenn has lost 15 straight to Bama. This feels like their first legit shot in years. QB Bryce Young is a gametime decision. Obviously that's a huge factor. I think the big story is Hendon Hooker. With a big game here, he could be a top 10 pick next year. I don't think Tenn has the defense to pull off the upset.

8 Oklahoma State at 13 TCU 3:30 ABC TCU -4
last year OK State smoked TCU 63-17. OK state QB Spencer Sanders is just 3 wins away from Mason Rudolph's school record. Booo Hisss. How dare you say something positive about Mason Rudolph you son of a *****!!! TCU is coming off a big win vs Kansas

15 NC State at 18 Syracuse 3:30 ABC Syr -3.5
This is Syracuse's best start since 1987. NC State QB Devin Leary was injured in last week's win vs FSU and is a gametiome decision. Syracuse is improved but mostly untested. Their lone quality win is a 3 point win over Purdue. NC State played Clemson tough in a loss. NC State's backup QB thre just 1 pass in relief vs FSU last week.

4 Clemson at Florida State 7:30 Clem -4
Clemson has loads of talent and they're winning but not really blowing anybody away. They barely survived in 2 OT vs Wake Forest and had a tough one vs NC State. Clemson QB DJ Unpronounceable has huge talent but sometimes you get Jamarcus Russell vibes from him.

16 Miss State at 22 Kentucky 7:30 SECN Miss St -4
Kentucky QB Will Levis is expected to play. MSU is coming off back to back blowout wins against TX A&M and Arkansas.

7 USC at 20 Utah 8:00 FOX Utah -3.5
USC is flashy and Utah is tough. This is the type of game USC has struggled with. Utah has had trouble with mobile QBs. The key could be USC QB Caleb Williams legs. Pac 12 only has 2 unbeatens USC amd UCLA. A USC loss would be bad for the Pac 12. They likely need an unbeaten Champ to get into the playoffs. SEC and Big 10 champ is in. Big 12 is a tougher league and will be ahead of the Pac 12 champ unless that Pac 12 champ us unbeaten.

What is the backstory on the hookers?

Also what is your favorite prospect out of the games listed?

Great write up! Michigan is definitely untested. Penn State has had the better competition so far. I think it's like the Steelers and will come down to play calling and how well Clifford plays. Clifford is just a guy and they have terribly inconsistent play calling as the Steelers do. Clifford needs to have a good game throwing and even running. Should be a good game. Penn State is well rested coming off their bye week.

There are some good games today. I saw on ESPN that this is the first time since 1993 that there have been three games between undefeated teams that are at least 5-0. That's a pretty long time. I wish Ky was still in the mix.

It's hard to gauge how good Michigan is and they dropped in one of the polls this week. It looked like they might lose to Indiana and Maryland. Their QB has a strong/elite arm, but he's young and can be careless with the football when he's running/scrambling. He's only thrown one int, but he can't be turning it over in a game like this.

Vandy @ UGA is the only game on my radar today. Gotta keep winning to run the table.

It's just a riff on the old Craig James Killed 5 Hookers (CJK5H) memes. Back in the day, James' son played for Mike Leach at Texas Tech and at some point he got a concussion. Craig James then basically got Leech fired by saying he locked his son in a closet and stuff like that. Truth was his son was sent to a dark room which is advised for people with concussion. Craig James became hated in the college football world and then CJK5H memes started popping up on the internet.

It then really went viral when Leech was doing a signing at a book store for a book he wrote and he signed one with a note CJK5H

Prospects for the Steelers? I'm usually looking at guys that will be avail;able in the 20s, but now i have to start thinking about guys who could be top 5 picks. For some time, the guy I liked for the steelers is Penn State CB Joey Porter Jr. He's tall and has very long arms. He's a coverage CB that can hit.

But now I'm looking at DE/LB Will Anderson from Alabama. Maybe pass rusher isn't a top priority but if you are picking top 5, you have to draft the game changer and not for need. Devin Bush proves that. You can't have enough pass rushers. Watt, Anderson and Highsmith would be deadly in a rotation and you could even have them on the field together with Watt playing ILB. It would be like when they had Chad Brown at ILB and he could blitz up the middle.

Aside from that, i haven't been in draft mode yet but unfortunately I may be soon the way the steeler season is going. Biggest needs? CB, OL, DT, ILB. In terms of first round and especially a high first round pick, seems the perfect opportunity to get a stud OT.

I can definitely see Alabama losing their game. The Vols are legit and Alabama has struggled even with Young. If he doesn't play and the Vols get out to an early lead at home, look out. The upset tracker is on in this game.

If Young can't play then Tenn can win this. Tenn's offense can put up points. Bama had a tough game vs Texas A&M but A&M didn't score a bunch so they didn't need their backup QB to do much. If Bama has to go score for score with a backup, he might make a few mistakes

As a steeler fan, I have to root for QBs to look good and shoot up draft boards. With Steelers likely not in the market for a QB, the more that go in Rd 1 the better. It will push other players down the board for them. A guy like Will Anderson should probably go #1 but maybe he lasts to 3 or 4 if there are some QBs at the top.

Wait, “down the board”? You are aware the Steelers co-own the NFL’s worst record, right?

Anyway, it could make for some interesting and heated arguments if the Steelers did end up in a spot to draft a top 2 or 3 overall QB prospect and Kenny finishes the season with his current so-so assessment.

Are you taking an undersized Bryce Young or CJ Stroud and hope he's the first OSU QB to become a franchise QB in the NFL?

I would say Michigan is disappointed to settle for three on that drive.

I really hope it doesn’t come to that, but that would be the argument - do the Steelers take a higher rated QB prospect (Levis may be in the discussion as well) over a 20th overall pick coming off a so-so rookie season.

Penn State too conservative on their drive. You know Michigan is hyper aggressive on D….max protect and throw deep on third and one.

Another disappointing end to a good Michigan drive. Good teams can't let inferior teams hang around by taking field goals instead of touchdowns.

I would say Penn State has to feel pretty good to only be down 6.

Damn! I wasn't a fan of the Pickett selection. However, the kid has played 1 1/2 games. Could we maybe let him play a few more before we call his season "so, so"? In the event that it does end up being that, the Steelers should still not draft a QB. Let Pickett play and hopefully develop beyond what his rookie season looks like. Especially since he's handicapped with a **** slinging monkey as an OC, WRs who catch the ball like their hands are coated in WD-40 and a RB who has lost a step this year due to injury.
If the Steelers end up selecting top 1 or 2, it's the perfect opportunity to trade back and collect some premium draft picks while still drafting an impact player.

Showing a lot of 10 yard cushion the first two drives that Michigan have been able to take advantage of until they get to the red zone. Lions are way too predictable on their first downs with runs to the middle.

Penn State doesnt seem to be up to this challenge in the Big House. Oh well. Hopefully the Buckeyes are taking thorough notes on both teams

I was expecting a good game. So far, it seems PSU is outclassed and the only thing that's keeping it close is ttun keeping itself out of the endzone.T
Seems like PSU only gets hyped up to play tOSU .... at home.

It's time to move on.

I was hoping for a Penn State victory but at the early stages of the game, it looks like Michigan is going to whoop them. Harbough.....what a douche.

Yeah, the Penn State game is looking like it’s going to be ugly. They’re getting bullied big time.
